Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 22:40 EDT Jul. 30, 2016 – National Weather Service

... This is a flash flood emergency for the city of Baltimore near
Jones Falls... the little Patuxent River near Columbia... and the
Patapsco River near Ellicott City... along with nearby areas...

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 415 am EDT for
northern Anne Arundel County in central Maryland... southwestern
Baltimore County in northern Maryland... south central Carroll County
in north central Maryland... Howard... central Montgomery counties in
central Maryland and southeastern Frederick counties in north central
Maryland and Baltimore City...

At 1033 PM EDT... flooding was ongoing along the little Patuxent
River... especialy south of Route 108 near and in Columbia. Interests
near the river should follow instructions from local officials and
remain away from the river... which has risen over 10 feet this
evening and is still rising. Flooding is also ongoing on the
Patapsco River... gwynns falls... and Jones Falls... and smaller
streams which flow into those larger streams. Widespread significant
flooding is occurring with numerous Road closures and water rescues.
This is an extremely dangerous situation and floodwaters are even
harder to see at night. Stay in a safe place on High Ground!!

This is a flash flood emergency for much of Howard County... and
portions of Baltimore City and County. This is a particularly
dangerous situation. Seek higher ground now!

Baltimore... Columbia... Germantown... Rockville... Gaithersburg...
Olney... Pikesville... Cockeysville... Elkridge... Damascus... Glen
Burnie... Ellicott City... Dundalk... Towson... Catonsville... Woodlawn...
Randallstown... Montgomery Village... Parkville and Owings Mills.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move to higher ground now. This is an extremely dangerous and
life-threatening situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are
fleeing an area subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
