Thanks Laura. I wish I could show the magnitude of this river, the ice. It is 6-8 feet thick down there on those edges. There are several channels like this, cut down through the ice. A human would look quite small standing in that channel.

There ya go, place a long pipe across the crack, set up your tri-pod then dangle yourself down from the pipe. That should do it. Could even make a swing...

Seriously though, it would be fun to get down to the river and cross the ice to get to one of these channels. Perhaps if I could fly...

Wow 6-8ft? It would take quite some time to cut a fishing hole through that! Hmm I think I would just put a pvc pipe in place somehow, before it froze for the winter.
