My Dad was a WWII fighter pilot and retired a high-ranking officer in the Marine Corps. He could have had burial at Arlington with full military honors including a jet flyover, but that was not what he specified in his final instructions, and the rest of our family was content with a much simpler funeral. Thanks for the reminder of the debt we owe these brave fighting men in helping keep our country free!

Very moving - a somber reminder of mortality of the flesh, but also a lasting legend as a hero.

My condolences on the passing of a great American hero. Fame is not what makes a hero. I'm glad you were there for him and his family.

Thank you all for your caring thoughts and comments. I probably launched this man 40 years ago and he flew my F-4 Phantom five different times back in 1972 -1973, and I didn't even know him then. He found one of my videos on youtube that I had put together from footage I took while I was there and asked if I would sell him a copy and I told him absolutely not, but would be glad to give him a copy, and then our friendship began.......
