Haha well I'm glad there was so much positive feedback! It was too bright to get any kind of lightning shot soooo.... I composed my camera just as I would normally compose a photograph and instead of pressing the shutter for a photo I pressed for a HD quality video! When this lightning flashed I stopped the video. Then, I went home and found the single frame with the lightning - composed by me as I would a photograph, and it turned out nice! Good thing my 5D mkII shoots full HD video! Thanks for all the kind remarks!

This is an absolutely fantastic shot! Thanks for sharing the information on how you got it. I have the 5D Mark II but I've been disappointed in the videos I've taken of lightning. It doesn't work so well at night, apparently because of the compression process (the lightning causes too great of a change in the scene at night). I've been meaning to try daytime videos and the result here looks great.
