I'm featuring this pic in my blog.

I've suffered drought before. '98 drought county wide evacuation, the state burned but we didn't lose our communities to the fires. This is epic like Russia last year, Australia the year before, the stuff nightmares come of. So very sorry for TX.

Thanks, everyone for your good wishes and kind words. I am honored to have received the AC but I sure wish it was for something other than this fire. The home next to the cattle pen had not gone up when we had to leave, but there was no chance, other than a miracle, for it to make it. That family will have lost everything. I know they were getting their animals out, I have video of that, but I don't think they had time to get much more than the animals and the clothes on their backs.

Our hearts in South TX go out to you guys. I cried off and on yesterday thinking about the fires and devasation.
The photos are so surreal--and great ones at that.
Congrats at the AC, and I know what ya mean wishing it was for something other than fire.
God speed.

Thank you all for your good wishes and prayers. We are all fine so far. My in-laws live about 10 miles from the fires and so far the inferno is not heading that way. The hub and I live in the Houston metro area and are AOK for now, despite the extreme drought.

I agree with your assessment, and I believe it was a miracle that their house survived, although they lost a barn and lots of equipment! I sent the lady who lives there a link to your awesome pictures here on WU.

OMG, EasyGo! Thank you for that bitter sweet news! I am so glad that the home was saved. I know the equipment loss hurts, but losing a home means so much more. Please relay my deepest regard to the family. Thanks.
