I live in Robertson, South Africa – 160 km from the Southernmost tip of Africa. We are situated in a premier wine-producing area where temperatures range from -1°C in winter with rain and snow to maxima of around 40-43°C at the height of summer. The climate is a Mediterranean one. We have our own unique flora, know as ‘fynbos’ here – an Afrikaans word meaning ‘small bushes’. It’s an arid region, but the large Breede (‘Wide’) River flowing through it assures us of sufficient water all year round. I’m born again, a church organist, and retired.
