The aurora were active for a brief period in the early morning, one last show to see the old year out.

I know this photo is two years old, but I just now saw it for the first time. How amazingly gorgeous!! I have been in love with the aurora borealis for so long, and was blessed to see it once on a road trip through Alberta off Hwy 3. It was pink as well as green.
Thanks for bringing back that memory!

Glad you found the photo, Aurora are something one never tires watching. One of the drawbacks of our long summer days, no darkness to see the stars or Aurora.

I'm so happy that you are sharing yours with us!!!I could look at these forever!! I'll have to remember to visit your website too!!! Thank you!

What an awesome photo! What type of photo gear are you using, may I ask, to get these fantastic images? Do you set the camera on the equivalent of Bulb for a specific period of time? Do you use a normal 50mm lens or a telephoto? Just trying to learn, I need to visit here again to see all your other photos!

Hi Callaloo1, Glad you are enjoying the photos.
I use several different Canon digital cameras which are listed with each photo.
For good aurora pictures you really need a fast lens f2 of faster. My main night photography lens are both zooms,a 17-55mm and 16-35mm. I try to keep most shots under 20sec, and if there is a lot of movement in the aurora you need to drop that down to 5-10sec to keep them from looking blurred. I don't use the blub setting, just use the camera sensor and then adjust with compensation after looking at the histogram.
Cheers, Jim
