This single cell cumulonimbus is forming....and as I upload this...it is presenting quite a lightning show on the top of Mt. Hood.

It almost looks like it's going to blow! I
love it when clouds hug the peak of big
mountains like your beautiful Mt. Hood!
The lighting is wonderful, as well. Great
shot!

Great capture.

Is the cloud forming there because of the snow pack?

Very cool. Only in the spring would you catch such activity over Hood.

FLOFFONUTTA:Thunderheads form as a result of a combination of atmospheric conditions, quite frequently present in the Spring and Summer seasons here in the Pacific Northwest. The "cloud" likely "hung" there on top of Mt. Hood as a combination of wind, barometric pressure, temperature, and "dew point" (the temperature at which humidity and moisture in the air will form a vapor). I'm sure there are more qualified people than I on this website to answer that; but ...for what it's worth..that's my take on it.
MCSADIE: YEPPER!!!!! Hood is one of the most enchanted and amazing Mountains I have ever been around; and I've traveled extensively in my life; and continue to do so...daily.
My gracious and heart held thanks to all of you for looking.
