They're all on this queen anne's lace flower head. These syrphid flies resemble bees in appearance, and function, but they are only about 3/8 of an inch long.

Thanks for the interest, and comments on this picture of itty bitty bugs, Tom and Kat. No, these are syrphid flies, and although they nectar at the flowers, they do not have pollen sacs, and cannot carry home anything other than what landed into their tummies!
