Can you believe this wasn't even the closest bolt of the afternoon on 7/18/12? In fact, it didn't seem all the close at all considering how it turned out. Oh well. How well can you see the shape of the lightning itself? My laptop screen varies the brightness and sometimes it looks completely washed out and other times I can see a "fat" bolt with clear definition. Please let me know

UPDATED 1/11/12: Hello fellow photography lovers from all four corners of the globe! I am a 22 year old weather and nature photographer currently attending The State University at Oneonta as a Meteorology Major. I have been shooting for three and a half years now and have made outstanding progress in my art through learning techniques, strategies, perspectives, and learning about photography as a whole. I was a photographer for the Oneonta newspaper "The State Times" last semester and plan to be one again in the spring. Also, for the month of January, I have a gallery of 24 of my photos on display at my local library. This sums me up in a nutshell so please, if you have any questions, comments, suggestions, or anything else, feel free to message me and I will get back to you as soon as I can. It's a great capture. I've tried photographing lightning and it's very difficult.

@okeedoky, the winds were relatively light actually so it may just be part of the actual bolt
