Winter Storm Warning
Statement as of 02:40 AM EST del 04 Marzo 2015

... Winter Storm Warning now in effect from 7 PM this evening to
7 PM EST Thursday...

* locations... Lawrence County Kentucky and portions of western West
Virginia

* hazard types... snow and sleet.

* Snow accumulations... 5 to 8 inches... with locally higher amounts
possible.

* Timing... rain will change to a period of sleet by 10 PM
tonight. The wintry mixture will transition to snow by midnight.
The snow... heavy at times... will continue through the first half
of Thursday.

* Impacts... untreated roads and sidewalks could become snow and
ice covered. Reduced visibilities... below one mile at
times... can be expected. Snow could cause downed tree limbs and
power outages.

* Temperatures... falling through the 20s overnight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food...
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

* a storm system bringing warmer weather along with widespread
rain overnight and Wednesday. One to three inches of rain is
possible through the watch period. This rain coupled with snow
melt could cause flooding of streams... creeks... and rivers
throughout the region.

* Small stream and creek flooding will be possible overnight
through Wednesday... with minor to moderate flooding along larger
rivers possible Wednesday through Thursday.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
