Or Vice Versa. Can't believe this photo got past the approvers and it has to go up here with some of my worst.
Got totally stumped today on the roof project and came back early: No measurement I could make seemed to point a way to correct the weirdness of the rafters I've been hanging out in space. So I got Gunther to "eyeball" the roof plane while hoisted the rafter and we have two sloping facets which hopefully we can rainproof someday.
We are pushing even my limits on this project: kinda wish my friend who knows AutoCad would paint me a picture.
Basically I "Think like a raindrop" and it has worked so far.

Are you redoing the roof with the present rafters, or are you building a new roof? Either way, my advice is limited because I can't see it in person, not that I'm an expert at such things! :)

I figure if GG can get a picture of Roxy's rear end approved, anything that has an animal in it goes!

Evening Ylee: Lessee - The existing small 10'x10' service shed had to have it's roof turned 90 degrees. 'Course the masts for incoming electric power, cable and telephone were, shall we say, embedded in the old roof. Sawed 'em free and used the old trusses on the turn. Had a few moments of chagrin 'cause I think now and then about the electrician we damaged. I work around electrical masts on roofs quite often. Never been flashed or shocked so far. Flash is worse according to the electrician: you lose your sight. That's why he jumped.

Here at the plant, where most of the equipment runs at 480 volts, choosing between flash or shock is like choosing between hanging or firing squad!

Never think like a raindrop when you are on a roof.
Raindrops fall!

Take care man!

I know, I missed Canada Day, too. But still, this is such a great pic I think I'll plunk it in here, anyhow. What's not to like about a bunch of kids having fun?

There was plenty of fun in our town today - and hot dogs, and sno-cones, and cotton candy, and a town band playing wonderful music. Altogether, a satisfying day. I hope yours was, too!

Afternoon Ylee:
A fellow I built an house for worked as an electrician at our local Pulp Mill and described the disappearance of a large electric motor. It was not stolen like so many other items were back then. Something went wrong and the motor simply vaporized. No one was badly injured but every surface facing the motor was powder coated.
Another HD electrician talked about ball lightning emerging from the breaker panel. I vaporized a couple of inches of 10 AWG. copper one time but I must have been turning to run at the time because a small bead of copper stuck to the inside of my glasses.

You are welcome Barefootontherocks:
The magic of WU Blogs, Eh?
As far as the roof goes, I may have put too much faith in my abilities to engineer/design by the seat of my pants. It's for my daughter and she and SIL also put a lot of faith in this old man so I'll make it right raindrop wise - I just won't be able to make it look like it was planed that way, since it was never really planed at all. That portion of roof will be sawn away when the next expansion happens and it faces on to an excavation now rather than the house and yard.
I'm almost too late but I hope you are all enjoying a great July 4th. Our "Canada Day" was a bit damp and dampened further by our Federal Government's initiative to commemorate the War of 1812 as the birth of our Nation. Let me just say they do not speak for this Canadian. From what I read about that skirmish no one Won anything but what do I know?

Good point Rob:
I do a lot of my thinking while lying (laying?) safe in bed. Once I have a saw in my hand and a pile of boards it's too late. When I come to one of these Glitches I usually either shut the day down or go to some other area where I can do something useful and think and talk about the problem area for a while. It's worked for me so far and I still have all my fingers.

Got it Rob:
I thought I might be saying I was telling fibs in bed -not this cowboy - unless there was someone there who was gullible enough.
And that ain't Tloml. That woman still comes to sleep in the same bed after all these years and I do the same. It is strange to me that such different people spend so much time together. On the other hand I can not imagine living with anyone who agreed with what I think.
