Posted by: tropicalthought, 05:39 PM GMT del 31 Gennaio 2012 +0
Now are having fog, but it is not a wet fog at this point. The sun did come out for a short time around noon, but then it was back to all clouds.

Rain is good, but now it is too late in the season to make up for it.

It was 10 degrees colder then normal
Posted by: tropicalthought, 02:46 PM GMT del 19 Gennaio 2012 +0
On Monday and Tuesday night it may have gotten down to 34 or 35. I don't have a weather station in my garden, so I don't really know. There was alot of frost in the morning. The small flowers seems to defrost and come back, but I don't know if they have damage. I have to see if they will turn black in a few days.

Some plants are frozen
Posted by: tropicalthought, 06:08 PM GMT del 16 Gennaio 2012 +0
It got below 40 and some of the plants that have green leaves look like frozen lettuce leaves. But from the process of elimination, I have not lost any perennials, and those cold sensitive perennials all died in 2009.

The sky is clear
Posted by: tropicalthought, 03:23 PM GMT del 10 Gennaio 2012 +0
I see some white thin streaky clouds, but at least we don't have cloud cover. The temp says 42, but I have not lost any plants this week, yet due to cold. I had to remove some mimulus, but that was over grown anyway. The mimulus turned black, but much of it stayed green. If the cold weather comes too early before the plants get into winter mode, they are more likely to die. On Dec. 7 2009, I lot a lot of plants due to cold weather.

Palm Springs Weather in the winter
Posted by: tropicalthought, 05:10 PM GMT del 08 Gennaio 2012 +0
In the winter in Palm Springs the sun goes down behind the mountain at 3:30pm. It starts to get dark, not very dark, but so dark, that all the photos failed. Then I went to Joshua Trees in the morning, and I could not get any good shots because there was another mountain blocking the light. When I got to the other side and started to go downhill. There was plenty of light, but I was out of the areas. So, I did not get a good photos of the Jumbo Boulders or the Skull Rock. All the photos were burned out from the sun coming in on one side. Next time I go to Palm Springs I will know Palm Springs has very different light then San Francisco. I could have over come some of these things with a very expensive camera.

It is less wet as the day goes on, but a foggy day, not very good for the garden. The sun did come out later on and I got a lot done in the garden.
