Well, here we are waiting for spring to come... Below is a picture of the last snow. Got to start plowing and getting starters going...

I had to replace the battery in the Davis Vantage Pro 2 weather station. Not bad, it lasted 6 years... I hope that the solar panel on the station and whatever it charges is okay. I would hate going to the station every six months to replace battery. Luckily, I have had very little need of maintenance on the station, solar, or camera at the Depot...

Garlic is coming along fine. I hope to have over a thousand garlic bulbs this year. Want to start some chicks (road island reds)this summer...

Anticipating the rainfall, winds, outages, and possible snow from Sandy here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge. Worried that even if we only get the rainfall that my "Bottom Garden" may get flooded out. I took the gamble of planting a winter garden of radishes, brocoli, swiss shard, onions, spinach, and part of my normal Elephant Garlic down by the river. The river would need to go higher than 8 feet (6+ inch rain), but that has happened at least once a year over...

The webcam is down... Didn't have time today to check the power fully. It is a connection to the solar panel that is loose. I will have to take off the cover of the breaker box because I think the break is in there (I hope). I guess you will know when the power is back on (webcam will work). All in all, the solar power has done a tremendous job over the years in powering the webcam. I guess I need to go and do some preventive maintenance more often.

Fixed the rain bucket on the Weather Station so now it should be pretty accurate. Some wasps and debris were clogging the hole making rain do a slow drip on the sensor. The debris ring is gone from the Davis Vantage Pro bucket and I'm looking for a replacement. I even had standing water in the self draining bucket. I apologize for not doing it sooner, but many other things were going on to divert my time. I really needed it to make sure that the garden was gett...

I just changed the name of the Blog, Weather Station, and Webcam from "Old Rockfish Post Office" to "Rockfish Depot". I thought it fit the Webcam view and is a term that ole timers around here use for this area. If you tell someone "Rockfish" they think you live between Nellysford and Afton (Rockfish Valley)... When you say "Rockfish Depot" they either know it or don't. Also the name is shorter so as to fit in stickers and such. Rockfish was known as Rockfish De...
