07:00, 73F, clear. sun's up and cheery. I'm gnashing my teeth. the sheep shearer called last night and is coming to the farm today to shear the sheep. I'm not ready. I do have wormer but don't have scrapie tags, or any help lined up.. and the falling down horsebarn had fleas last week.. put stuff out but not sure it did the job. might have to shear down at the sheep barn.
not at all ready for this but if I pass on today he won't be back until the end of june.....

08:40, 76F, sunny. no one can help me out so far. guess it's just me and the 2 shearers ... it will be a loooong hot sweaty day. but the sheep will be cool by this evening.
16:50, 85F, a slight breeze. still waiting for the sheep shearers to show. the sheep have been locked in the barn since this morning. the dogs are in the pen since this a.m. a classic case of hurry up and wait.. got in touch with them around 14:00 and the plan was be here at 5.. for 30 yrs. this has been going on. I didn't get anything done today but the chores and a chicken thigh chili. I keep telling myself, at least it won't be so hot ...
shearers showed at 17:30. a friend who's familiar with shearing dropped by to help out. by 18:30 the sheep had been moved and shearing commenced. everyone was sheared, wormed, and hooves trimmed, except the 2 day old lamb. we finished just as the light was fading. chili for supper.
12:15, 69F, calm. waxing gibbous moon showing a lot of light. brighter stars out. dogs barking.
