Okie Weather Watch

Another summer, and most of the time this area has been the hottest in the nation, like last year, beating out Death Valley on a regular basis.  This week has rain in the forecast, and across the board the nightly lows are projected to be much lower. Those are signs that we are gradually easing out of summer, thank God.

For several days I've been watching the temperature maps here at Weather Underground, and consistently they show Oklahoma as the epicenter of the terrible heat that's been hanging over the Mid-Southwest. Each day for the last several days, Oklahoma has been the hottest part of the nation, beating out Nevada, Death Valley, and Baja California many days. Currently it's 100 degrees outside, with direct sunlight overhead. The kids have been wanting to go outside, so I let them, but then they came back in!They are going to turn the hose on and spray each other a little bit. Even though we shouldn't because of the water rationing, but I don't know what else to do....

Hello from The Heartland, the land of weather extremes....this was a destructive Spring for tornadoes and it has passed into a Summer full of heat records....drought conditions persist.
