And he is as quiet as a church mouse right now. I am not sure where he plopped, but this lil guy is sooo sweet. Just like his big sis. Everyone is getting along so well. I am sooo amazed at this pack. They are just so nice. Even the cat!

Something is wrong with both my noaa radios. Hmmmm I'm sort of glad this line of storms happened. We didn't know they were not working properly. We've had some power outages due to wind and we didn't really pay attention to them.
Member Since: Agosto 20, 2009 Posts: 73 Comments: 9052
Who doesn't like puppies? My cats! Cousin of StepDau brought in a 10 week old doxie, so small you can hold it in your hand, and the cats hissed at it and ran for high ground!
Sounds like a sweet pup! And he pottys outside! Bonus!:)
If you have your NOAA radios hooked up to an AC adapter and you lose power, the radios will shut off, and won't come back on until either(1)you unplug the adapter and turn the radio on battery power, or (2)have the electricity return, where you can just turn the radio on. At least this is how mine works.

Hello Gams and Ylee and Mush. Happy St. Pats to you all! Thanks for the greeting Gams. Hope your day goes by fast at work.
Guess we should be talking about the weather since Chicago is breaking all kinds of records along with so much of the country.
We had some storms pop up. There was flooding and hail West of here in Woodstock. Plus some damage due to lightening. The flood alert has been canceled though.
.. The Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory that was in effect for central McHenry County is cancelled...
Heavy rain and excess runoff has ended over the advisory area. Streams and creeks should be beginning to recede... ending the flood threat. If flooding has been observed... please report it to your local law enforcement agency.
Will be heading out to the yard soon and then off for the day. Thanks again to all who visited with us and the new puppy. Have a great St. Patricks Day and be safe hey.

Hello Robdahood. You actually were the first Wubber to teach me to post vids on here :) All of WU says tank you for that ;) lol.
I hope you are well, and thank you for stopping. We should be better friends, as many of us all should be here on WU. This little guy is just wearing me out, but sooooo adorable! Trying to train him...routine routine...but he's got his own agenda so far as a baby, lol. If Molly and the Meatloaf were not soooo good things would have fallen apart within 24 hours, this guy is pretty demanding, :)
Ok shutting up now (but will be on for a few til baby goes to bed...) I'll post the cute pics of puppy now, lol! Stay safe and alert you all! I love it that I hear people getting tornado boxes together and preparing. We KNOW this weather is freaky! Oh yes...be quiet...puppy time!!!

He might be a handful. In fact, most puppies are, but he'll settle in. I've noticed that it is much easier if you have other dogs in the house. The pup will learn a lot from watching them.
Current dog here is Shepherd/Lab mix. Was stubborn and ornery. He insisted on chewing Angie's shoes. I feared that he would not live to see his first birthday. Took a little while but he turned out to be a really great dog.
Hang in there!

Morning. Looks like some slight storms building to our South BF will come visit soon. lol on the scrabble. I was sooo tired.
Rob - So true about the older dogs teaching the new one. Our lab was taught by our old Shepherd/Malamute. She was a GREAT dog, and now he's passing on what he learned. Gotta Love labs!
It was a beautiful morning in Chicagoland. No jacket required. The giant hyacinth opened this morning. Go figure. I walk around and just simply cannot believe it is so warm.
Puppy was up about 6 am. but had a good night. He is back down for a nap, so I need to get ready for work (only a few hours in the office and working at home the rest).
Stay safe everyone in the 'zones'. Bbl

Hi Todd, hey I see the 'other blog' got all messed up and I'm sorry, things were nutty around here...w/vacation and 'yewts' and all. How is your dog? I hope he is ok? I hate to ask, but the last time I checked on 'ya he was doing much, much better so hope he's still doing well.
Thanks for stopping by!
GG - LMBO - Baby Boomer!!!! I have said it outloud a few times...(insert my squeaky baby voice) "come here you lil sweet baby BOOMER" lolol but, you are the only other person to actually post or say it other than I, so I'm giggling!
Mush - they are just too easy and fun to photograph!
Calpoppy - Hiya! Yes. Right on the money! An American Bulldog. My son owns his big sister from the same breeding pair (Molly is 2 years old now) and she is so beautiful and good. He specifically is intending to breed this lil guy if all goes well. Actually, it is preserving this disposition as the main trait and purpose of having Boomer as the sire of Son's first effort in breeding. (there are 4 more unspoken for-- of this one's litter mates...going fast. Son picked the pick of the litter) Want one? lol
Ok nuff puppies n such (well you know what I mean) I am going to be quiet while this weather is freaking out and try to keep up with this nasty outbreak. Or post another MCD as this moves along, if we get to that point our way (or in MN).
Stay safe all! GG? Hope you are ok there...

Hi all, finally home again for a while. Happy Spring. 81 here in Chicagoland at 4:30 pm. and another record shattered earlier with 84 topping 1921 of 76. Our average temp usually is 48! Holy man. But...it's all been said all week long. This is absolutely freaky.
Puppy did very well with me working about 4 hours this morning, and he in the kennel box. Then I came home and we played and had some time to wear him out again...then I had to leave and he napped again in the little box. Wasn't gone but an hour and a half this afternoon. Perfect nap time for him. He was up at 2 am however, then settled down shortly after that for the rest of the night. It is soooo like having a baby. Out to play a bit before cooking dinner. bbl

How we doin? I know there are still storms and flooding going on. And the heat here is well 'Freaky' did I say it was 'Freaky' oh yeah...sorry but it's just amazingly 'Freaky'. If I start to see like 24" Giant Moths or Mega Dinosaur Spiders or something soon, I'm just gonna lose it! Last night there was a giant stink bug on the porch. If the June bugs come out in March...well ? SMH...who knows? Anything goes. Have to confess I've had the A/C on in the car. But I held out in the house. Some people at work were talking about turning it on today. Some houses heat up worse than others, so I don't blame them. Most work places DID have their A/C on! Man o Man.
Ok so we're gonna do vids and pic night. First some pics and a tune w/puppy and Dau. Then, I think a vid of the puppy, then a slide show of the puppy, lol....then We'll pick KARAOKE CONTEST SONGS WITH DAU!!! Yay!!! Doesn't this sound like a fun night on the blogs? Here weeeeee gooooooo! Happy Tuesday first day of Spring!
This one goes out to the Meatloaf who has been really wonderfully tolerant of the new pup...He 'says' "Don't you forget about me" awwwwweee.

It's a busy night here eh? There are 3 vids. 2 are processing so be patient and check back. This one I recorded the whole shabang...lol so it's long.

Hiya NEw, Sandi, and BF had a cancellation, so checking in early.
BF - Thank you for voting. I think I like that one too. I'll have to text her. Boy, I'm tired. Hope I can make it through the Karaoke tonight. It goes very late.
Hi Sandi - the 'Wilds' of Yorkshire? Hmm. Well, that sounds like a lot of fun! Hope you have a very nice visit.

Area forecast discussion National Weather Service Chicago/Romeoville Illinois 857 am CDT Wednesday Mar 21 2012
Discussion... 341 am CDT
Summer in March continues today and probably even into Thursday before out July level temperatures return to more normal levels...well normal for late April/early may! :) Primary forecast challenges this morning revolve around temperatures and then precipitation chances as the Southern Plains atmospheric hula hoop wobbles its way toward US later this week.
Once again today model indicate that middle level subsidence and the proximity of the upper ridge should result in a good deal of sunshine today. Hard to find any guidance for today that isnt at least a couple degrees warmer for today than what it showed 24 hours ago for Tuesday...with particularly the WRF-NAM low level thermal fields suggesting temperatures about 1c warmer. The tricky thing is going a couple degrees warmer than yesterday puts temperatures essentially at all-time records for the month. Going to cop out and use the excuse that we are starting off a bit cooler than yesterday to justify not forecasting all-time records and sticking with highs "only" 6-9f above the daily records!
Models have given up on the idea of a decidedly more easterly component to the synoptic gradient developing this evening...so should be just a typical Chicago and North Shore somewhat subdued lake breeze late this afternoon into the early evening resulting in falling temperatures near the lake after fairly warm midday highs.
Skies should more solidly cloud up tonight as upper low begins its approach toward the area...which should result in temperatures a bit warmer tonight than this morning and have adjusted the grids accordingly. Yet again the models have trended a bit slower for the arrival of the rain Thursday which means a good chunk of the County Warning Area could Eek out one last day of Summer-like temperatures despite the lack of sunshine. There is a fair amount of model support to justify record level temperatures again Thursday for our far northern and eastern County Warning Area...but given the cloud cover am again going to cop out and keep temperatures just shy of record levels.
Showers and some thunderstorms should overspread the area from SW to NE during the day Thursday...probably reaching NE Illinois later in the afternoon. Weak instability and the vertically stacked nature of the low should result in weak vertical shear and not really anticipating any severe threat Thursday into Thursday. Though weak...instability should be sufficient to support some thunderstorms with high precipitable waters and slow movement of the system supporting a threat of some healthy rainfall totals.
The initial band showers and storms should move off to the east of the area by Friday morning...however as upper low meanders into the area we should see colder air aloft move in steepening up the low/middle level lapse rates. Scattered showers will be around the area on Friday and given the cold air aloft could see some low topped thunderstorms as well...particularly if we see any breaks in the clouds. Showers could linger into Saturday before the whole system wobbles out of the area.
Sunday into Monday medium range guidance shows strong upper ridging re-establishing itself over the region...however surface high tracking north of the area should result in synoptic northeast flow (especially sunday) which will advect in slightly cooler air and likely be aided by well developed afternoon lake breezes penetrating far inland cooling things off even a good distance away from the lake. Temperature gradient of 15f is expected across the County Warning Area with 50s lake side ranging to near 70 far West. Lake breeze may be less prominent on Monday as synoptic flow begins to veer to more southeasterly direction. By Tuesday looks like we return to Summer with deep low tracking well northwest of the region resulting in strong southerly winds and an impressive warm-up. If Gem/GFS verify then we could be looking at 80s for at least portions of our County Warning Area again...but figure bumping temperatures up well into the 70s is a good start in trending toward that direction for now.

Tom Skilling (Well known Chicago WGN Met) "Our in-house analysis of the warmest 8 Marches here in Chicago shows the remainder of the month tends to finish above normal as well in a majority of cases and half the meteorological springs remain above normal overall from this point forward as well. Look at the 11-15 day temp departure forecast off our MDA data base and the Weather Service's GFS model--a forecast which appears to confirm this trend."

Love Izzi's wording in the forecast. forecast challenges this morning revolve around temperatures and then precipitation chances as the Southern Plains atmospheric hula hoop wobbles its way toward US later this week. Don't think I've ever seen atmospheric hula hoop ever used before, creating a new weather dictionary for terms to use.

Hi Jus, love the puppy photos! ALL puppies are cute its how they turn out that matters..... your guy looks to be getting the best of treatment, great interaction with other animals and family and routine which they love! My guys know our routines so well if I'm late for any of them they let me know. I usually feed my guys around four pm if I'm late our old lady (Astra 12yrs old) will start to bark, once or twice to start but if I don't arrive with dinner it gets more persistant, how she knows almost to the minute I'm not sure but she does. Another friend always went to bed after a certain TV show and they changed the time it went to air and she realised her dog was not around, he had put himself to bed because he heard the theme music!!!!! Watching your weather before our trip not sure what to pack?????

(puppy pics are getting buried in the posts, see post #39 to cut through the blog if someone else is here for puppy pics, lol)
Hi Ozgalah, I just had to tell the 'yewts' who are off running around w/that puppy now...It is 6:00 p.m. and time for him to eat! I only had him for four days and he is already in a routine of course. Like one of my babies. How DO you do it??? To let them go after they are 6 weeks!
That must be the beauty of breeding a good line. You at least know those pups you have bred will go to a good home and be reasonably well cared for (or at least the chances are very good).
As to this weather - it is supposed to remain quite warm. So, Yes, I would prepare for not much cold. Have a jacket and some sweaters to go over warmer weather items. I don't think you will need bulky sweaters or a heavy overcoat. Maybe more of a rain coat or rain gear. You can always buy things if you need it, like a sun dress or shorts and sunscreen! It is like Florida here these days.
When do you leave again? btw?

one last day of Summer-like temperatures despite the lack of sunshine.
There is a fair amount of model support to justify record level
temperatures again Thursday for our far northern and eastern County Warning Area...but
given the cloud cover am again going to cop out and keep temperatures just
shy of record levels.
Showers and some thunderstorms should overspread the area from SW to
NE during the day Thursday...probably reaching NE Illinois later in the
afternoon. Weak instability and the vertically stacked nature of the
low should result in weak vertical shear and not really anticipating
any severe threat Thursday into Thursday. Though weak...instability
should be sufficient to support some thunderstorms with high precipitable waters
and slow movement of the system supporting a threat of some healthy
rainfall totals.
The initial band showers and storms should move off to the east of
the area by Friday morning...however as upper low meanders into the
area we should see colder air aloft move in steepening up the
low/middle level lapse rates. Scattered showers will be around the area
on Friday and given the cold air aloft could see some low topped
thunderstorms as well...particularly if we see any breaks in the
clouds. Showers could linger into Saturday before the whole system
wobbles out of the area.
Sunday into Monday medium range guidance shows strong upper ridging
re-establishing itself over the region...however surface high
tracking north of the area should result in synoptic northeast flow
(especially sunday) which will advect in slightly cooler air and
likely be aided by well developed afternoon lake breezes penetrating
far inland cooling things off even a good distance away from the
lake. Temperature gradient of 15f is expected across the County Warning Area with 50s lake
side ranging to near 70 far West. Lake breeze may be less prominent
on Monday as synoptic flow begins to veer to more southeasterly
direction. By Tuesday looks like we return to Summer with deep low
tracking well northwest of the region resulting in strong southerly
winds and an impressive warm-up. If Gem/GFS verify then we could be
looking at 80s for at least portions of our County Warning Area again...but figure
bumping temperatures up well into the 70s is a good start in trending
toward that direction for now.

"Our in-house analysis of the warmest 8 Marches here in Chicago shows the remainder of the month tends to finish above normal as well in a majority of cases and half the meteorological springs remain above normal overall from this point forward as well. Look at the 11-15 day temp departure forecast off our MDA data base and the Weather Service's GFS model--a forecast which appears to confirm this trend."
forecast challenges
this morning revolve around temperatures and then precipitation chances as the
Southern Plains atmospheric hula hoop wobbles its way toward US
later this week.
Don't think I've ever seen atmospheric hula hoop ever used before, creating a new weather dictionary for terms to use.
When do you leave again? btw?
So which song did S decide to sing tonight?
