An EF-1 tornado ran directly over the weather station at Denver International Airport, which recorded a wind gust of 97 mph. Remarkably, the weather station was not destroyed, and continued to transmit data after the tornado had passed. There was no major damage reported at the airport.

A strong upper-air high-pressure ridge has brought all-time record heat to much of Alaska the past few days. Temperatures peaked at 96°F at Talkeetna north of Anchorage on Monday June 17 with unofficial readings as high as 98°. Here is a brief review of the record-setting temperatures.

Northeast Weather Analyst

The remnants of Tropical Storm Andrea will continue to shift northeast along the Atlantic coast. Heavy rainfall will spread across the Northeast focusing in on a narrow axis along I-95 to the coast. Rainfall amounts in this region may approach a max of 6" in some select area. Minor gale force winds are also possible along the immediate coastline. Little to no storm surge threat is likely for the region along with little to no severe weather due to relatively stable air.
