What a beautiful, peaceful photo - I love your Atlantic!
My computer "crashed" right after I put the photo up. Well, actually, the computer said, there has been a xyz but system has recovered. Then it totally went blank, but it restarted itself.
So there.
So nice to see you. It is cold and hot here.
I didn't see it, until I enlarged the photo. There it is! Such beautiful flowers!
I'm off in a half-minute to Mom's needlepoint group. I never went while she was with us because it was sort of "her thing". She never said I couldn't go, but it was clear she enjoyed having one or two groups that were "just hers". I'm just going to visit tonight, but next month I'll have her stash sorted out and will take some with me to share with the ladies.
And some I'll keep. Maybe I'll make your flowers into a needlepointed pillow!

ADD: Oh! I didn't see you'd been at my place. Of course you can post any photo you like. I'm getting so easy-going in my old age. ;-)
Those are VINCAS and they really thrive in full sun. At first I thought they were impatiens, which do best in shadier spots. This is the first year I have seen them in that beautiful purple colour, which I think is enhanced by the white center.
A guy gets shipwrecked. When he wakes up, he's on a beach. The sand is purple. He can't believe it. The sky is purple. He walks around a bit and sees that there is purple grass, purple birds and purple fruit on the purple trees. He's shocked when he finds that his skin is starting to turn purple too. "Oh no!" he says. "I think I've been marooned!"

Now I just hope that there was no real NEED for me to do this. Let's hope this ninety-whatever curves out to sea and leads the way for all the others to follow this year.
You know here in Texas we like to say "what goes around comes around". I like thinking that one day your bottle will "come around" somewhere - if not to Sandi's shore or Roz's boat, at least somewhere, found by someone with the good sense to let you know about it.
It was a pretty day here, but entirely too hot. I hate to say that, as barefoot's been having it worse than most of us, but my goodness - it's just no fun to be out at all. I did get lots of little errands done today - and came home from the market with a box of fresh, tree-ripened peaches. Nothing better than that!
I hope your weekend's lovely. Nice to see your radar back, too. Now I'll have a convenient place to watch Emily go swirling off into the Great Atlantic. ;)

Alphie's eyes are blue, and he's a little bit cross-eyed in his right eye. he acts more like a dog than a cat.

He has been very quiet lately.
This enigma called Emily may not reorganize after she crosses Hispaniola, presuming the trough makes her turn as expected. Tomorrow and Thursday should tell the tale. I know you're ready just in case, and I will be thinking of you. And Gamms. (Hi, Gamms.)

Saw your post over at Bug's. I don't have much advice to give that's any better than anyone else's, but I can at least tell you a couple of things I do without fail.
1. Follow the Chicago Way. Evacuate early and often. Don't dither. If you leave and the storm goes to Nebraska or something, you'll know it very soon and can just turn around and go home. By leaving early, you'll also miss the worst of the traffic.
2. I was just looking at your map and it's harder for you to do what I always do, but I'll tell you anyhow. I always make motel reservations or whatever in two places, far, far apart. Like, San Antonio and Shreveport. Then, once I make a decision which way the danged storm is going, I go the other direction. Of course it doesn't always work - with Ike, I choose east because he was coming in west of us, but he kept moving east. Still, even though we got the winds, we were far enough inland for not much problem.
Being right on the coast is a problem, of course. Kind of hard to go east. ;-) Still, I'd head west instead of north, myself. At this point, anyhow. Could change some, depending on the track.
3. I already have all my treasures packed that I know I'd want to take in the car with me. They've been packed since April. All I have to do is pick them up and stow them in the back seat. Likewise Dixie's stuff. (She's got as much or more as I do.)
4. Little things mean a lot: bottled Starbucks' frappucino for when coffee can't be made. Battery powered fluorescent lanterns that are cool and can light up a whole room. I hve Coleman - I suppose there are others. Ummm... Water, even for evacuating, and good, healthy snacks. More protein, less sugar.
5. All those important papers, jewelry, etc. Cash. Fill up your car now. But you know all this - I'm just trying to think out loud.
If I think of anything else, I'll stop by. And don't feel bad about being nervous/anxious/hyped up/scared to death. Storms are no fun, period. If you need to just vent, stop by any of our blogs. We don't mind. ;-)

I know you will get out, you always do and surrounded by water like you are that is a good thing.

Huri, following Gams. When in doubt .... get out. I think you would be wise to make that decision. The water this storm will bring you will not be nice. I don't know how close you are to the beach but the tides are not going to be happy tides. Now I know you will make the best decision for you but choose wisely. You know we are all here and if you need any help you know where to find us. Lots of hugs.

We are all okay. Will write more when have reliable internet. I cried a lot before and during storm, but I had to start crying again when I came here and saw so many beautiful and kind. Thank you all so very much.
I understand your tears. Just so happy you are ok. Anxious to hear all about your experience with Big Girl Irene. She was not very kind to alot of folks. I will check back later.
