"Too Hot" in Mid Michigan
Yesterday was a perfect day for summer lovers because it felt like a day in mid-July. I was tempted to turn the AC on but held off. We did reach 86F by late afternoon but today should be a little cooler. Yesterday's high temp record was broken by 12 degrees. I did get out for a nice bike ride and stopped by the Shiatown East Park (pictured above) for a rest. I am so out of shape and did a lot of huffing and puffing especially on those hills. We don't have any rain in the forecast until tomorrow and I certainly hope that we get some. Our last good rain was March 13 and it is very dry. The trees are all starting to show some green and the tulips and daffodils are sprouting. I think we'll see more clouds today but no rain as yet.
Right now (8:30 AM EDT), our temp is 57.2F, with the humidity at 75%. Skies are partly cloudy and the wind is from the south but calm at this time. The dew point is 52F and our overnight low is our present temp.
Today...Mostly sunny in the morning...Then partly cloudy with a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Record highs 82 to 86. Light southwest winds...Becoming light northeast late in the afternoon.
Tonight...Partly cloudy in the evening...Becoming mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows 55 to 59. Northeast winds 5 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40 percent.
Friday...Mostly cloudy. A chance of showers and thunderstorms in the morning...Then showers likely and possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Record highs 72 to 76. East winds 5 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
Friday Night...Showers and possible thunderstorms. Lows 49 to 53. Southeast winds 5 to 15 mph...Becoming light east after midnight. Chance of rain 80 percent.
Saturday...Mostly cloudy in the morning...Becoming partly cloudy. A chance of light showers. Highs 63 to 67. Light northeast winds. Chance of rain 40 percent.
Saturday Night...Mostly cloudy with a chance of light showers. Lows 45 to 49. Chance of rain 30 percent.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!
Record Warmth For Mid Michigan
With our temps well into the upper 70s today, one would never think that they were in Michigan. It is hard to believe that spring is still over a week away since today felt more like early June. Our high in Owosso reached 80F but here my thermometer read 76F. It is 11:15 PM and my windows are still wide open.
I celebrated by washing windows and putting some screens in place. The summer birds are all back as well as the wasps. We actually sat outdoors for awhile with no jackets. I even heard some complain that it was too hot for them. There is no end in sight for the warm temps as this is expected to remain for the upcoming week.
Here is a look at our forecast for the next few days:
Overnight: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Areas of fog after 3am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. South southwest wind between 7 and 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
Thursday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Areas of fog before 11am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 72. South southwest wind between 5 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Thursday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms. Areas of fog after 2am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 52. Southwest wind between 3 and 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Friday: Areas of fog before 10am. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 69. Light north northwest wind.
Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 51. East southeast wind around 5 mph.
Saturday: Partly sunny, with a high near 72.
This is an amazing forecast considering that our normal high for this time of year is 43F. But this is the way that most of winter has been for us. We had snow only twice and it melted three days later. The sounds of summer have returned. There are robins singing in the morning and the frogs are alive and well back in the swamp. All are still wondering if we can expect this to last. Only time will tell.
