Yellow/green haze

I woke up this morning to a yellow glow in the air. It's hard to explain.. The sky wasn't yellow - just the air. I have only remembered seeing that condition a few times before, and it was generally associated with an approaching hurricane. Needless to say, I did a quick WU check to be sure there were no surprises.

I have searched through many of my "old" blogs looking for a comment about a similar occurrence. I think it was right before Ophelia came (passing nearby) or maybe it was another storm. Someone from nearby Myrtle Beach (who had also seen the same thing that day) posted a comment with a meteorological explanation. The only thing, is that NOW I don't recall that explanation. I didn't find anything on an old blog. Did I dare post on Dr. M's blog at that time? Maybe the "discussion" was there and not on my blog.

Oh well, so I have googled and still not found any answers. I did see that most people describe it as green, but what I see is definitely yellow.

In my google searches, I see this usually related to oncoming severe weather storm, or tornado. I have very vivid memories as a child, of packing the car and preparing to evacuate with that "yellow glow" all around. I've only experienced it a few times since then - at least at that same intensity.

I read some explanation about heavy clouds, etc. but no one sounded really sure. I found a video that someone had posted. The poster was asking for explanations, BUT all the responses "he" got were folks telling him that it wasn't real - accusing him of taking photos with a filter trying to "fool" the "audience."

Any ideas??
