Rain! Relief!

As posted earlier, we were already at 104 before 2 PM, and then unexpectedly, we had a pop-up thunderstorm that just passed through and it has dropped the temperature below 80 degrees! The rain was so wonderful to see!

On our deck, it's already 104 degrees this afternoon in the shade. I believe the record for here is 104 on this date. We are headed much higher than that today it looks like.

Extreme Heat Continues in Mid-Missouri

Today marks the 11th consecutive day here in Jefferson City of more than 100 degree temperatures. It's unlike anything I've seen in Missouri in many years. I can remember the summer of 1980 being extremely hot, but I was in Southwest Missouri at the time. The weather is expected to break tomorrow, with temps below 100 and a chance of rain.

Blizzard of 2011 Report

February 1, 20113:06 PMI picked the Blizzard of 2011 to make the blog's first entry! Just ventured out onto the deck and in the yard to check out the incredible snowfall.First flakes began falling at 5:15 AM and by 2:30 PM, we have 14" in several places out in the yard. Drifts already at between 21" and 25" were measured.It is still snowing moderately, but it has slowed down quite a bit at the moment. More later. . . .
