Greening on the Green!

The unusually warm weather this March has brought spring early to the Bluegrass; trees that usually don't bud, flower, and leaf until mid-to-late April have already done so! Hopefully a late cold snap won't damage delicate vegetation! Bugs have also come into spring with full force, with every type of buzzing everywhere!

Although most cams up north are still mostly brown, my "local" National Park Service cam at Mammoth Cave NP is showing considerable green, plus a bonus redbud on the side!
Extra greenery can be found in Washington, D.C., although you can't see the cherry blossonms from this cam.

Four new(for here) cams also grace this blog. Remember, if there is a cam from a past blog you'd like to see again, I've kept every blog in the WU archive, so you can just scan the old blogs until you find your favorite!

Good morning Ylee, I enjoyed looking at your cams this morning. So are you going to get off tomorrow??? I am at work today also.. it was nice having an excuse to take off those 3 Saturday's in March...but I don't have any excuses for April... plus must be careful not to waste too many of my PTO days. Tides rolling in at the Cornwall location, early morning flotilla of fishermen on the Whanganui River and along the bank, Yosemite is beautiful, too bad your Green River Valley cam is not working today. DC and the Beach cam are just gorgeous right now. Very, very pretty. Nice to have such nice images for such a nice day. Is that enough nice for you? LOL Hope your day was great. I got out into the great outdoors yesterday, and had a fine time. I think my allergies got started, though. Either that or I need to dust this house more than I realized. Anyhow, I'm going to get things straightened up around here, try to get a new post done and then plunge into the work week. I won't bother you with my day here at work; I've been here since 7AM, and I'll be here until 11PM. I had hoped to stop by and leave some Easter greetings, but it was not to be. Shore, the DC cam, as well as the Mammoth Cave cam, has been down since yesterday. The main picture is updating, but the large version isn't working. Hi Ylee - I just read on my FB page that Yosemite enjoyed temps in the 70s today. We did too! Good morning! Back to the grind! It was 34 this morning at home, but it didn't frost for some reason! Thermometer may be off, I'm not sure! Supposed to have near freezing temps several days this week! I'm glad I hadn't set anything out yet! Checked the DC and Mammoth Cave large versions and they are back, so I put those back in place of the stretched versions. If I have time, I'll start scouting for the new blog today! Good morning Ylee. Bright and sunny, temps going up into the low 60s today then a chill will set in this evening after we get some rain as a cold front moves through. Yup tomorrow our high is 48F. Hi Ylee! I did not get a chance to wish everyone a Happy Easter so I am doing it today! We had a great time yesterday with my older son and his new girlfriend. I hope she will be a keeper, cause we really like her!!!!! Two storms on the way here, we can use more rain so I am happy though I don't know if we will have any wildflowers this year. I sure haven't seen any at all. Our frosts have ruined any chance for my nectarine tree to set fruit, though all the blueberries in the greenhouse are going to town! Take care, Ylee!! Hi Ylee, nothing out in the gardens yet to worry about even if we get a bit of frost over the next couple of days. By the weekend we will be in the mid 60s again. Looking forward to that. I won't be putting any plants in until the end of April. No use asking for trouble. Bulbs can go in but not tender plants. Hi, Alley! I don't have anything planted yet except some turnips and radishes; They are just starting to come up, but I don't think a light frost will hurt them. Nothing else is going into the ground for at least another week, maybe longer if necessary! A very early good morning Ylee. The DC cam cannot be live, the view is a daylight scene yet in this area it is pitch dark still! Not even a hint of sunrise at the east horizon. I notice that there is a bunch of people making their way down to the water edge at Scilly. Very pretty scene. I hope that you are well and getting your rest and fun in between work. Good morning! A cool 45 degrees as I got up! Cams are not well today, as the server for the DC and Mammoth Cave cams is down, as well as the Croat cam! I'll have to work on the new blog when I get caught up on what happened here last night! What didn't happen last night was the post of the latest adventures of EarnestP! 2-3 hours of work went poof as I hit post! I know I should've saved to a text file first, but it was the end of the shift, and it was time to go home! Pros, the DC cam is still stuck. I guess the NPS has computer problems like the rest of us! I know Rob, but what can I say? It was 7PM, and I took a chance! If I had finished 10 minutes earlier, I would have saved it as a text file. I won't rewrite it; it would fit yesterday, being the day after Easter, but not today. As outlandish as the story was, it left the smallest sliver of thought that there was the slightest chance that it could work, lol! I usually try to bring out Earnest for holidays, so maybe on the Fourth of July there may be a new post! This time, I'll try to write it in advance! :) Officially, the DC cam is "undergoing maintenance", Pros!
