Philippine Mudslide Anniversary
Its been 3 years today since the 2006 Southern Leyte Mudslide. Over a thousand people were killed in the mudslide including a school of 246 elementary students.
This disaster is a clear example of how bad other poorer countries have it and why I think americans should stop complaining about silly things like the road wasent plowed today, or that darn pothole outside. At least wide spread damage like this dosent happen here. (outside of the rare 2005 hurricane that swamped new orleans)
The cuase of the mudslide was debated, but some say it was mining done many years ago. Others think it was deforestation of the side of the mountain. The less trees the less absorbing of moisture in the soil and thus the more runoff creating a chance for a land slide.
This is a common problem in the country of Haiti.

School is ending soon!
Well I still got about two month, but still I'm getting ready to head out to japan! Been trying to get a grip on the weather out there. The one thing I noticed real quick is that systems spin up really fast in the west pac, one hour its a BC Leaf and the next theres a full blown system, wew, gots to keep on top of that!
Anyhow, just dropping a line to my wunderground buddys, I'v been a busy busy guy recently so not to much time to spend around here.

Weather weenies.com
Busy weekend, got to be with the family, enjoying it.....
Anyways still working on a large links page in weather weenies. Eventually I'll finish it, but for now thats the big project. Enjoy......
Also check out the storm this week, probally wed. there will be a bomb off the east coast. Interesting stuff.
