Hello Otherbug! Hope your next trip will be fantastic!

Wanted to say 'thank you' for the wonderful book and jug of Maple Syrup from Vermont we won from your previous travels this summer.

We waited for the perfect time to share the syrup with our whole family today! All the kids had a taste and we talked about where it came from. Mom relaxed, and loved the 'Water' book. Thank you again 'Otherbug'!!! -jus-

Hello everyone! Tori (AKSnowLuvr) here, from Kenai Peninsula, Alaska. 'Bug' arrived on Monday, 3/7/11, after a very long trip from Florida to Alaska. She has been a trooper so far, and even the -4F temps this morning do not have her complaining (much). :)

It's a beautiful sunny day, and she's looking forward to sharing her time here in Alaska with you all, and living on a farm she will have lots of fun sharing the baby animals with you!

Oh Bug, you are so lucky. What a beautiful place to be. I can understand how tired you must be after your long trip. I know how tired I always am. But beilieve me you will see so much.

Great excitement this morning waking up to news of the Japan earthquake, and possible tsunami here. But thankfully my host family lives far enough inland that we are snug as a bug here.
-9F here this morning... I thought it was supposed to be getting WARMER towards Spring?? O.o

We got to watch baby bunnies being born this morning! Boy, it was fast!! Miss Tori went out to the garage, and noticed all the fur in Padme's cage... a little while later we went back out, and she was giving birth! OMG, it was sooo cool!! You could actually see them pop out, and as soon as they did, momma was right there licking them and cleaning up the placenta. She's such a good mom. We think there's about 10 babies in there, but we'll have to wait to take pictures. Since I travel so much, I don't think I'll be able to keep one, but it will be fun to watch them grow and play with them while I'm here. :)

At least the bunnies, once they are old enough, will have a fur jacket against the cold ....I do hope you have borrowed some clothing to cover up shorts and t-shirt!

Sarah, we're baking bread today! It's only warmed up to 11F, and it's clouding over, so we're staying inside today. :)

There were 9 baby bunnies from yesterday's "hatch"... we're still waiting for Leia to "pop". :)

I love to eat bread dough. I can smell that fresh bread. Boy are you lucky!

We could probably stand to see pictures of Bug making bread too! Or gawking at new born bunnies!!!

Like Karen said, I'm jealous too since I've wanted to visit AK for a long time.

I beg pardon for being so late in checking to see where OtherBug was. Ya'll must think I'm awful ill-mannered. Overload at work and computer problems at home are my only excuses.

Baking bread and watching bunnies being born? What fun!

I think the wildlife and vistas are the things I like best about Alaska. It amazes me to see shows or pictures of the huge numbers of eagles around. We have eagles here but I've yet to see/identify one. They're much fewer and farther between here, than in Alaska.

Lunchbreak is almost over and I've yet to say hello to Dad.

We got 3" of new snow, and it is still coming down. :) It's so pretty.
The baby bunnies are doing great... we're waiting for them to get a little fur and then we'll take some pictures for you. They are ADORABLE. :)

Bug doesn't believe me, but 35F is warm. :) We actually had a busy day today... :( One of the dogs, Koda, got kicked in the head by a moose. He's ok, but he has a horrible gash/bruise above his right eye, and spent the day at the vet's today.

OH, dear, I do hope Koda is feeling a little better today.

Looks like we may have a wet weekend here. At least, we aren't having snow or flooding.

Sorry we've been gone so long... it's been busy here. The weather is nice... upper 20s at night, near 40 during the day. The snow is melting fast. :)
Koda is going to be ok. It's been a little over a week now,and his wound is healing fairly well. He looks very funny with a bare patch around one eye! But he refuses to wear his cone now, and looks like he'll heal nicely.

Winter is trying to hold on... snow in the forecast, despite above-freezing temps, for the next week. Might get that snow shot yet!!

I put on a jacket out of habit yesterday, and had to take it off when I got too hot... LOL! The snow is melting VERY fast. This has been the most pleasant break-up since I moved here. :)
