TRAYVON MARTIN,,,,,YOUR THOUGHTS
I promise I will answer with my thoughts too. This is another case where there are lot of questions and not a lot of answers. This case takes place in Sanford, Fl about fifteen minutes from my house. This case will be tried in Seminole County, my county. The Gran Jury is made up of folks from right here. It is a jury that has already been seated before Trayvon was killed.
First let me tell you Sanford is not a horrible town. It is a small town located on Lake Monroe. It has a downtown that has finally started to thrive with lots of art galleries and terrific antique shops. The town is sprinkled with beautiful old homes that date back to when Sanford was the celery capitol of Florida.
Sanford has an International Airport and is thrilled to have many tour groups from the UK. Larry Dale, President of the airport has done an excellent job of bringing in flights from all over the US. People laughed at him and he proved them wrong. Aerosim Flight School is there training pilots from all over the world to go to the airlines. This is where my son trained when Aerosim was called, Delta Connection.
What happened to Trayvon was horrible but lets not blame an entire town. I have worked with the police department through the supervised visitation center. I never once saw any indication of racism. Is there some in the police department maybe so. Once again don't blame the entire department.
This case will get sorted out but it will take time. Cool heads need to prevail.

Police Chief Lee, head of the embattled Sanford Police Dept, was not allowed to resign. Thousands of letters came into the Sanford City Commission asking that he not resign. He has wonderful credentials and is retired from the FBI. He is truly a plus for Sanford. The police did not botch the investigation of the Trayvon Martin Case. They wanted Zimmerman arrested. It was the State Attorney, Norm Wolfinger that did not want Zimmerman arrested for whatever reason. Maybe he felt he could not successfully prosecute the case. Lots more to know. This is just the beginning.
It was also noted yesterday the Arraignment may be moved up to the 8th of May and Zimmerman may not be present. His plea will be entered by his attorney Mark O'Mara.
The black and white ministerial groups are trying to unite. It may take some time but for the benefit of the Sanford community this unification is a good thing. Sanford is still a community that is very divided.

I think you know I was referring to Chief Lee.
I think you maybe right about thinking he couldn't atleast handily prosecute the case. He kept saying there was alot more to the case than what the media had put out there. That was before all the head wound Trayvon attacked me came out.
Judge Ken Lester is mulling over the $204,000.00 that George Zimmerman has in a pay pal account. The court did not know about this money when bond was set. We shall see if Judge Lester moves the bond higher or if it is left the same. Mark O'Mara Zimmerman's attorney has now taken over that pay pal account and will not allow Zimmerman or his family to withdraw funds. This is so Zimmerman does not have the opportunity to use this money to flee.
Of course Trayvon Martin's parents are very upset with the Judge not immediately revoking bail.
Zimmerman has never been a flight problem and I don't think he will become one. O'Mara said the costs of defending this case could run from five hundred thousand to one million. Oh and the folks that donated to the Real George Zimmerman account don't have to worry about their names and addresses being made public.
BTW...John Morgan's law firm is trying to get Casey Anthony's address so she can be issued a supeona for issues surrounding her upcoming trial in the Zenita Gonzolez case. This will be interesting if the Judge gives Morgan Casey's address.

The latest on the Trayvon Martin case is George Zimmerman's attorney has set up a new online account for George that will be handled by the O'Mara law firm. This will be a donation website. The website is: GZlegalcase.com

The big news in the Trayvon Martin case is a group of folks appointed by Gov Scott will start talking about The Stand Your Ground Law and whether it needs to be changed or not. It will be very interesting to see what this group recommends. After their recommends the public will have a chance to add their input.

This is the new interim Police Chief of Sanford, Rick Myers. He will be interim chief until it is figured out whether the Sanford Police Dept was at fault in the handling of the Trayvon Martin case.

Shep my hubby and I were just talking about this. I think the Generation X are the first generation to not think about color. I live in a multiracial neighborhood. I grew up in a town where we only had white folks and then the Mexicans that came into our town picked our tomato crop in the summer and left. i went off to Purdue where I was introduced to all races. I guess that is where I began to figure out we are all just people. I have friends of all colors and backgrounds and I cherish them all.
I just hope Sanford can find some way to heal. As a Guardian Ad Litem I have worked with the Sanford Police Dept. I have never found them to be racially motivated. I think healing will take place slowly but trust is the big factor.
Good morning all. Sources to the Orlando Sentinel told the paper that George Zimmerman was afraid of Trayvon Martin because he was circling around his SUV also as they struggled on the ground Trayvon was trying to get his gun. Humm....alot of he saids. I guess we will not know until we hear the real story. Zimmerman has changed his story several times......never a good thing.
Now that we have been able to watch two seasons within a two week period, we want Season III to start now! I'm going to have to look it up to see when it airs here. We never watched it originally, I think it was on too late for us. But, we might just have to stay up late at least for the night that it is on!

Today is the Arraignment for George Zimmerman on the charge of murder in the Trayvon Martin case. Neither Zimmerman nor his attorney, Mark O'Mara, will be in court. Zimmerman has entered a plea to the court of not guilty in a written document.
There was really a good article in the Orlando Sentinel about how close Trayvon and his dad were even though his parents got a divorce when he was just 4. Trayvon's dad spent a lot of time with his son and at one point his son saved his life. This life saving event happened during a house fire.
New motions:
Zimmerman waves his right to a speedy trial.
Mark O'Mara is asking for a continuance......more time to work on the murder case.
Next court date; August 8th... will be the setting of preliminary trial dates.
