Good Morning! At Smithville, MS, the current temperature is 67 and it feels like 67. Highs will continue to range between 62 and 80 with lows between 34 and 49. A Special Weather Statement has been issued on the significant severe weather outbreak that is expected today. A Wind Advisory is in effect until 6pm tonight. Winds of 20-30mph are expected with gusts up to 50mph. There is a 70% chance of strong storms/wind today and tonight. Main threats will be: heavy rain between 1-3 inches, flash flooding, tornadoes (a few of which could be strong), large hail up to golf-ball size, and damaging winds of 70mph. Dr. Greg Forbes, the severe weather expert at The Weather Channel, has given a TOR:CON (Tornado Condition Index) of a 5 out of 10 for North MS. This is a 50% chance of seeing a tornado within a 50 mile radius. Timing: the storms look to be coming in around 8am to 11am this morning with storms coming back in from 2pm to 1am Saturday morning. It looks like the worse of the storms look to occur between 5pm and 7pm tonight. At the Regional Rehab Center at Tupelo, MS, the current temperature is 66 and it feels like 66.
