Voice to Text……….
.Looking down into the Sea this morning it looks exactly like it did yesterday with no clouds except a few morning whispys in most of the Sea and those persistent stringy band of whispys that have been passing over the cape area for the past 5 days now.
The webcam at La Ventana, Baja Joe’s was showing heavy overcast off toward the island at 6:30 this morning. At 7:30 I could just see the sun trying to peak through the clouds. On the opposite coast at Cabo Falso the web cam was also showing heavy overcast at 7:30. So it looks like those clouds my not be just whispys but a mix of whispys and fluffys.
It looks like this will continue today as that area along the ITCZ now has a low imbedded in the zone and it is helping to produce the convection that is moving off the zone to the northeast.
The winds in the Tehuantepec are forecast to be light today, just 14-15 knots, but this image is showing a big-time thunderbumper working right over the Gulf with several smaller squalls down stream a ways out in the basin. I would imagine that it would be very uncomfortable under this thumper.
Looking out into the Eastern Pacific Basin this morning all I can see are some high whispys between here and Hawaii this morning. To the west of Hawaii I can see a long subtropical moisture plume that goes almost due north until it runs into the 40th parallel and then hooks a hard right and takes aim on the Oregon/northern California coast.
That’s it for our hood so looking north now to the west coast of America where the eye is drawn to that big honk’n low anchored in the Gulf of Alaska. Normally you will see these systems that come into the Great Northwest cross Washington and Nevada and then drop down into the Great Basin. This morning that low is drawing all the clouds from the Great Basin northwest and then they are joining up with that low swirling in the Gulf of Alaska. This is just the opposite flow that I have been observing all winter.
The bottom or southern side of this swirl is releasing impulses that will keep the Great Northwest wet today and tomorrow. I can see three lows moving down the coast. One of these lows is bringing rain and high elevation snow from Washington to the California/Oregon border this morning. They are however forecasting a dry weekend for Seattle…..Right!
For the rest of northern California today is under high pressure that is building aloft out in the Pacific. Those impulses moving out of the Gulf of Alaska will at times creep over the top of this ridge and bring a chance of some showers to the north state. The next opportunity is Friday with another chance on late Sunday and Monday.
For southern California some locally gustily winds will linger over the mountains and deserts today but they can expect dry and warmer conditions into the weekend.
Those systems moving over the top of the high and descending into northern California early next week could bring some periods of gustily winds to the southland but no rain is in the forecast.
Looking now over to the southwest where it will be dry and warmer through the coming weekend. Those systems passing to the north will bring some breeziness at times.
The Great Basin will be filling in with high pressure from the west today and tomorrow that will increase the daytime highs over the southwest about 10 degrees higher Saturday than today.
Back down here across the border the northern and central sea will began a two day blow in the 27-32 knot ranges. The southern Sea probably won’t see much more than 20-23 over the next two days.
Today the winds will be the strongest.
Saturday looks like a good day to plan a picnic.

73s Y'all
