Voice to Text……….
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that in general the Sea is pretty much cloud free. There was a report from Diane, FSG of Fog along the East Cape this morning but I can’t see it with this image.
Off the west coast of the peninsula there is a large area of clouds about a thousand miles in diameter that have developed from convection along the ITCZ over the past couple of days and has been drifting north, northeast.
Most but not all of the moisture has been eroded by moving through dry stable air in the basin. The plume is sort of sliding up the northern Baja coast and making landfall around Ensenada and moving into southern California this morning. As it continues to move north-northeast some whispys could pass over the central and northern Sea today. We’ll see?
Looking south I can see the southern Sea is cloud free this morning and further south along the Riviera I can’t see any clouds either until you get way down into Central America.
Looking further south the Tehuantepec continues to have light winds in the 11-15 knot ranges making a passage across the wide Gulf pleasant. The forecast is for these conditions to continue for at least the next 3 days.
Looking now out into the Eastern Pacific Basin I can see a lot of thunderbumper activity along the ITCZ this morning however not many clouds are being introduced into the basin.
Looking out toward Hawaii this morning I can see a few whispys and that’s about it.
Looking north now to the west coast of America and starting at the top of this image. I certainly would not surprise anyone by saying it’s raining in Seattle this morning. There is a wet cold trough that has dropped down from the Gulf of Alaska and will be the first of several to keep the umbrellas up in the Great Northwest this week. They will also be seeing snow at 2000 feet in the Cascades today.
The far Northern portion of California from Eureka north might see a shower or two at this first system passes off to the east. The Sierras above 8000 feet could see a few snow flurries today as well.
The rest of northern California including the Sacramento Valley will be cloudy but dry.
Southern California has a weak system moving through it that will bring cooler weather and light showers are possible tonight and tomorrow. High pressure will return on Monday and Tuesday.
Long range there is a stronger storm arriving from the northwest later in the week that will bring more cooling and another chance of rain to the southland on Friday.
Looking now over to the southwest. I mentioned earlier that a low was moving out of California into the southwest. It is dry and cold and will be producing windy conditions this afternoon and evening and tomorrow as it moves across the region.
Warmer weather is expected on Monday and Tuesday. Mid week a weak system moving through the state could produce a chance of showers in the higher elevations in south central Arizona. Next Friday could also bring a slight change of showers to the southwest.
Back across the border here in Baja it looks like we have a very pleasant weekend coming up. Moderate southerlies today and tomorrow and then a return to moderate northerlies on Monday.
That’s my weather for today.

I’ll tag on Marcha’s QST. ADVANCE YOUR CLOCKS ONE HOUR TONIGHT. TOMORROW WE START Baja DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME WHICH WILL BE THE SAME AS MOUNTAIN DAYLIGHT TIME.
