Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the remnant clouds left over from thunderbumpers in Sonora are still scattered around the Sea this morning however they should clear by mid morning.
Yesterday afternoon several large cells developed in northern Sonora and moved out into the Sea around the Bay of La area and continued to build and move north up the Sea into the southern California deserts and Southwest Arizona.
This band of thunderbumpers caused heavy rain in Arizona along with some flash flooding and a swift water rescue in the Hereford area.
This 24 hour loop is showing the storms diminishing in the evening hours and by midnight all that was left were fairly heavy remnant clouds in the northern Sea however there were still a few thumpers still active in SW Arizona.
Interesting, of the 4 reporting stations in the northern Sea none reported any rain accumulations. Even the downtown Tucson station reported no rain. Bob’s station in Hereford is still not on line yet and that was here the flash flooding occurred.
Looking now at the southern Sea where remnant clouds from a thunderbumper that built just north of Mazatlan and moved into the Sea last night are still in the area but are fading fast.
Looking now along the Mexican Riviera where there has been fewer thunderbumper along the coast that the past several days. Most were south of Acapulco.
The ITCZ/Monsoon trough which is snaking along 9N this morning is very active with numerous thunderbumpers stretched out along the zone.
Yesterday afternoon that Tropical Wave finally moved across Mexico and entered the Eastern Pacific basin just north of the ITCZ/Monsoon trough. None of the global models spin up the wave into a tropical cyclone.
There is another Tropical Wave over by Honduras in the Caribbean this morning that the global models are showing this is also not good candidate for tropical development.
So it looks like we end the month of July with nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen and if the global models are to be believed there would appear to be little likelihood for tropical storms to develop in the Eastern Pacific basin for at least the next week. We’ll see?
That’s what is gong on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where the west coast continues to have pleasant July weather. Well, Seattle will most likely see some sprinkles today but the rest of the west coast will see mostly sunshine with temperatures along the coast in the 80s and inland in the mid to high 90s.
Southern California will be a bit on the muggy side today with lots of subtropical moisture in the region. They can expect to see more scattered showers and thunderbumpers in the deserts and mountains mainly in the afternoon and evening hours.
Looking now over to the southwest where they had big time gully washers yesterday afternoon. Locally heavy rain is again likely this afternoon and evening. It looks like Bob in Hereford will need a bilge pump in his bird bath.
Right now it looks like tomorrow through the weekend will see decreased monsoon activity in the southwest.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern Sea will most likely see some thunderbumper action this afternoon however the forecast winds are moderate and from the SE. Wednesday and Thursday the winds swing to the ENE and remain in the moderate ranges.
The central Sea today will see brisk to strong southerlies on the Baja side from San Franciscito bay south to around Puerto Escondido. Then diminish back to the moderate ranges for Wednesday and Thursday.
The southern Sea moderate ESE today then having a western component for Wednesday and Thursday.
Temperatures continue to be in the mid to high 90s for most locations.
