.Looking down into the Sea this morning I can see that the northern and Central Sea has been pretty much free of any cloudiness for the past 24 hours. Yesterday morning a thunderbumper moved from around Mazatlan into the Sea pretty much filling the southern crossing from Mazatlan to La Paz. None of the reporting stations reported any rain however when these storms come this close to the cape they can have some thunderbumper action back in the mountains around the cape. I did not see any in this loop though.
Looking over to Sonora I can see that last evenings thunderbumpers working their way north into SE Arizona and SW New Mexico have pretty much dissipated this morning. The water vapor imagery is showing moisture over there flowing south rather than north this morning.
No storms entered the Sea last night.
Taking a quick look over along the west coast of the Baja peninsula it looks like the only good news over there is this image is showing just a few patches of fog along the coast from Turtle Bay north to around LA. I was under the impression that June was suppose to be a favorable month for a bash but that does not appear to be happening. The flotilla of around 10 boats in Turtle Bay are still waiting for a window to pass Pt. San Quinten. Tomorrow could be that window.
Looking now south to the Mexican Riviera where the coast is clear south to around Manzanillo where this is a big honker right over the top of it. Further south I can see that they have a few light thunderstorms during the night and early morning hours, most were small and dissipated quickly.
With the exception of the ITCZ/Monsoon trough which is moderately active this morning the Eastern Pacific basin just has some high whispys over it this morning.
Glancing over to the Gulf of Mexico Debby is doing Florida and Georgia this morning dumping lots of rain in both states. She is forecast to move across Florida and start working her way up the Atlantic seaboard later today.
Back here in the Eastern Pacific basin there is nothing cooking in our Tropical Kitchen so looking now north to the west coast of America where Washington State will be getting wet again today. Oregon and California under building high pressure will begin a warming trend with lots of sunshine that will last until the weekend when another low is forecast to move in from the Pacific...
Over in the southwest the forecast says there is sufficient moisture for isolated to scattered afternoon and evening thunderbumper today but I’m seeing most of the moisture flowing south into Sonora this morning with not much left for this afternoon. Well, we will see?
With high pressure building so are the temperatures. Tucson will see the afternoon high reach 108 again by this weekend. The Yuma area will also be see temperatures in the 112 ranges later in the week.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence moderate southerlies are on tap for the Sea for 3-day forecast period with the exception from Santa Rosalia to Concepción Bay today which is forecast to see moderate NE winds.
The Sonoran coast will see mostly moderate WSW over the next 3 days.
The southern Sea will continue to see moderate SW winds for the next 3 days.
Temperatures today should be in the low to mid 90s.
