Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning with this image I can see the has been no cloudiness in the Sea of Cortez for the past 24 hours.
Looking now over to the west coast of the Baja peninsula the fog seeing satellite shows the marine layer along the coast has thinned out a bit with only patches of fog along the coast from around Turtle Bay north to central California this morning.
This next satellite image is showing the fog encroaching inland quite a ways from Cedros Island north.
One of these images must be showing FAKE fog. I wonder if I would be right if I reported the thinning fog bank extending inland a ways. Anyway its probably foggy along the coast this morning.
Looking now south to the Mexican Riviera where I’m hunting for Bud. There is not a clue that he has ever been in the area. Not a cloud, not a remnant low, nada! The only indication he was in the hood was a half inch of rain was reported in Puerto Vallarta yesterday.
Looking further south I can see there is considerable thunderbumper activity from around Acapulco south.
The Tehuantepec has had several thumpers working over the Gulf during the night and right now the Gulf seems to be clearing with all the cloudiness moving west out into the basin. The winds in the Gulf continue to be light and from the SE.
Looking now at the ITCZ/Monsoon trough which is snaking along between 8 and 10N this morning. Most of the thunderbumper activity is either over Central America or just off shore.
One last looks for Bud: Nope!
That’s what’s going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where the lows that have been moving through west have cooled things down all over the western conus.
By midweek a relatively strong upper ridge is forecast to build along the west coast. This will result in a robust warming trend from Wednesday into Thursday especially inland where highs are forecast to warm well into the 80s and lower 90s by Thursday with mid to upper 90s possible in the warmest southern inland valleys.
Meantime there will be a weak low moving though northern California on Memorial Day into Tuesday that will keep the north state cool.
In southern California a slight warming trend will begin today. They will be only slightly affected by the low moving through Northern California on Monday and Tuesday then warm back up again on Wednesday and Thursday. With the return of high pressure the coastal fog will thicken for the south land.
Looking now over to the southwest where cooler than average weather will continue today however temperatures will moderate back to near normal levels Memorial Day and Tuesday. By the end of the week they should be seeing temperatures around the century mark again.
The weather in the southwest will be dominated by highs over NW Mexico and Baja for the upcoming week.
Additionally the southwest could see a bit of moisture creep into New Mexico by next weekend with some spilling into eastern Arizona for a few mountain buildups. It won’t be long before we are talking about Arizona’s seasonally monsoons.
Ok that’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern sea will continue to see strong NW winds today. The strongest along the northern Sonoran coast.
The central Sea will also see strong NW winds in the 19-23 knot ranges this afternoon. Tomorrow and Tuesday the winds will diminish back to the moderate ranges.
The southern Sea moderate winds, N or NW for the next 3 days.
Temperatures have dropped back to seasonal norms in the Sea of Cortez. The nights are on the cusp of blanket weather and the afternoon highs in the mid to high 80s. The average temperature here in the cove for May is 88 degrees.
Today’s temperatures should be just about like yesterday and be in the mid 80s.
