Voice to Text---
.Looking down into the Sea this morning we have had another 24 hours of cloudless skies in the Sea of Cortez. Using the experimental fog seeing satellite it is showing what look like areas of fog especially around the southern Sea. The web cams at the cape where showing rather heavy fog.
Looking south to the Mexican Riviera this morning I can see that along the coast from around Manzanillo they continue to see some scattered clouds passing over the region. No rain has been reported along the coast.
These clouds are coming from an area off the mainland coast about the size of Texas and is centered about 900 miles west of Zihuatanejo. This is a hot spot of activity with dozens of thunderbumpers working in this area. This is the area where our first tropical storm developed two days ago. This morning there is another low a bit south of that area that just showed up this morning and got the attention of the National Hurricane Center giving it a small blurb saying conditions down there appear conductive for possible development. Tiz this season so well keep an eye on it.
Tropical Storm Aletta is slowing heading toward Hawaii. She is heading into an area of dry air and will gradually weaken over the next 48 hours. There is no threat to any land from this storm.
Looking now back to the mainland and the Gulf of Tehuantepec where they have seen a couple of thunderbumpers move through the Gulf during the night. Right now most of the thunderbumper activity is off shore. I’d expect to see more thunderbumpers move through the Gulf today. There are no advisories for the Gulf however the conditions under these storms will very uncomfortable.
That’s what’s going on in our hood so looking now north to the west coast of America where very pleasant conditions are forecast for the entire west coast. Coastal fog lays along most of the west coast with temperatures a bit cooler than inland.
Southern California has Grey May conditions along the coast that will burn off later this morning. It will be a bit warmer inland today then a cooling trend for Thursday and Friday followed by a warming trend for the weekend
Looking now over to the southwest where it remains hot. Tucson will be just over 100 today and tomorrow then cool off a bit as a low moves through the Great Basin on Friday. Its then forecast to warm back up this weekend.
That’s what is going on to the north of us. Back on this side of the Fence the northern Sea will see moderate NE winds today.
The central Sea from around Santa Rosalia south to Puerto Escondido will see strong southerlies today and a bit less for Thursday and Friday.
The southern Sea will see light to moderate southerlies today and swing to SW tomorrow however still be in the moderate ranges.
So it looks like we will be seeing southerly winds for the 3-day forecast period with the strongest today pretty much in the northern crossing.
Temperatures dipped a bit yesterday with no reporting stations reaching 100 degrees. Here in the cove my average May Temperature is 88 degrees. So far this month it has averaged 93.
Today’s temperatures should be in the high 90s.
