GRAND MANAN, N.B.

Clear, calm and cold @-14C, to remain on the negative side with a high of -5C, this weather pattern till the weekend, clear and cold. No wind in the forecast, a good thing with the temps.

Rain fairly heavy on occasion yesterday, turned to snow and quite nasty for awhile last evening. Rob out doing his youth thing, on the return home strongly speculating no school today - he was wrong.

Old timers hockey tournament in the offing for the weekend. The first time a team from 'away' to participate, should be a good time. A new fairly exclusive hockey group inaugural yesterday @5PM - over 50 in age. A contingent from Whitehead to participate reviving a rivalry on outdoor rinks over 45 years in the making. Whitehead had a great outdoor rink with lights and a trip down there to play always great fun.

Dear Rob:

It sounds so fun to say - A trip down to Whitehead. I go there at least three times during Grand Manan visits so that I can hike, check out birds, etc., and visit with friends - not to mention I love that little ferry.

Anywho - I don't know what in the hell (excuse language) happened to the predicted 5 cm of snow. We had at least 20 - if not 25 - and the wind was howling from the west, creating HUGE snow drifts. Waded to the car this morning. Snowplow had two feet pushed in to the driveway. I scooped just enough to get the car out and that was iffy - put her in reverse and gunned it. I am sure that I 'got air' coming out on to the road. Anyway - late for work. Arg. Husband started/finished shovelling when he got up.

I am on the back side of this darn cold/flu. Me and Buckley's (DISCUSTING) have had a date every night. It has pretty much cured me.

Hoping to be well enough to get to the barn tomorrow. We will see. Friday I have to head to Fredericton to pick up kid, which probably means I am heading there on Sunday too - to return kid. There is no end.

Son got parttime job at Downey Ford detailing cars. Work hours 4:00 p.m. to 8:oo p.m. This makes for a big deals trying to get drives. His old beater is just not good enough to make it to Saint John and back every day. I see my car, also getting to be a beater, racking up some major miles. I NEED A VACATION.

Well, hope all is well. Later

Word. Chunks.

Good afternoon Rob
Are you going tp join in on the hockey.
That will leave sore muscles for sure.
The prairie continues to sufer through wind chills in he -30s.
That could be why there's only 1 outdoor rink left in town. When I was a kid there were 4 and each had its own kids team. It sure made for rivalry and kept the kids off the streets.
Have a good evening

WHOO-HOO! I went skating tonight!

Well, actually, all the rain that was left over from our frontal passage was still lying about when the temps dropped from 50 to 28. ;-)

I just went down to Mom's and discovered there was a glaze of ice over everything. Would I be so stupid as to make a little running start and slide? Ummmmmmmm..... LOL
