Even got the new date correct the first time out. Seems we are in the midst of receiving a big storm lots of snow, rain and wind. Blowing pretty good right now from NE @ 25-35KPH, overcast with a hint of snow in the air. Temp good at a mere -2C still deciding just where the bulk of the storm is to hit our area.

Great evening/early AM to usher in the New Year, a great meal, music we could relate to. Watched the a New Year in from Halifax, even managed to take in the event from Times Square. Soon thereafter in the bunk, Emily returned home just after we made an appearance.

Was going in the woods this morning, remains to be seen if that is something to consider with the amount of wind to contend with, and the gimp to actually get it done.

Rob, so proud of you and Donna making it to the New Year. We never even heard the fireworks at midnight. Worked hard all day yesterday making preparations for the freezing temps we are to get next week. This means getting the frost sheets and other old sheets ready to cover plants. We moved most of our plants off our lanai so they wouldn't get wet. We will then move what we can into our garage. Good thing we have a big garage. This is always a tough time of the year for us.

Try to cover our mondo grass, stag horn ferns and our big bird's nest fern. Varigated Jasmine and all our hibiscus and camilia bushes need to be covered too. We have several large birds of paradise and a large spider lilly that are very cold sensitive. It seems to take forever.

Oh, all the outside lights are still up and now they are wet.

Happy New Year to our Canadian neighbors! We are buried in snow this New Years. Had 14 inches last weekend and now we seem to be in line for round 2. Grey skies and heavy clouds to greet the new year.

Dear Rob:

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Hope mine improves. Not too much celebrating last night once the kids all left for points unknown. Son looked like he was going to the opera - dressed to the nines, and daughter and her bunch to house party. Me and cat watched fireworks at mid-night and the poor deer were just petrified. The full moon illuminated all. Oh well - relaxing if nothing else.

Do you have any more word on Plap? I was dismayed to see Ogal's comment. Please let us all know how he is.

Today am taking down tree. This is just a start. It took six weeks to put everything up so no doubt a while to take it all down. SIGH.
The kids are gung-ho to go for a hike but I will believe it when I see it. There is not one amongst who is not slightly hung-over, some more than most. The rugby crew are definitely looking the worse for wear. Thank God everyone stayed overnight and no one driving. They will truly have to man up if they intend to go.

Well, hope your day is okay and most of the blizzard misses us, but it is not looking good.
It looks like ogal is having her hands full with covering plants. I would kill to see her garden - sounds beautiful. Man-up ogal - the plants must be saved.

Let me know how plap is.

Word.
