A change in the weather, can see Ross Island - through the steady rain. Rumbles of thunder clearing the air, forecast is clearing and sun possible by this evening - a novel concept for sure. Temp 13C, a draft from WSW, temp to rise to near 20C.

The ferry saga continues, Transportation Officials still beating the bush for a suitable vessel. Also the open ferry DEER ISLAND PRINCESS, may be presseed into service to alleviate some of the commercial traffic. The PRINCESS would have some weather restrictions when she could run, and no passengers. At this stage she would have been running for the past three days at least, hauling a number of trucks that would take pressure off the BLACK BOAT.

Fishery news remains static, lobster season entering last month for this time around. A few wiers being built on the back of the island, no sign of herring, just getting prepared, it is time they showed up.

Dense fog advisory issued by U.S.forecaster, it is obvious he can change the advisory to fact. Total calm, 10C. Fog so thick nearly drizzle, which is in the forecast for next couple of days. Canadian weather speaks of clearing next couple of days, no such word from U.S. fellow.

No change in the ferry situation, govt. officials still looking for options to at least alleviate some of the bottle neck. The only possibiltiy, barge and tug, for commercial traffic not viable due to length of time required to make the trip to the mainland. Truckers don't have enough inventory to keep product moving.

Emily had a good financial weekend, two shifts at the convenience store, and a full day babysitting. Rob managed to maintain his hectic social calandar with an overnight thrown in, a bit of practice with his group that are playing a block of time at the upcoming Relay for Life.

Weather remains consistant, DREARY, thick fog, slight draft from NE, a cool 8C. This weather to remain till midweek, then a change to better temps and even sunshine, will take it when it shows up.

BLACK BOAT still hauling as much as she can, not too far off schedule times. Province still attempting to find options to address the truck traffic, to date anything that is remotely possible has had to be discarded for one reason or another. Five trips now, and next week attempting to get SIX on three of the busiest days, any extra will certainly be a help.

Trip to Fredericton along way to go for 1.5 hour meeting at anytime under these traveling circumstances even more so. I got home around 8PM, the driver of the vehicle first one left for next trip. She wouldn't be home till minight.

Did learn that the GRAND MANAN ADVENTURE will be leaving Panama City for the Bay of Fundy on June 17th, and they fired up the main engine yesterday.

A wooly one this morning, with showers in the forecast, temp down to 9C, to rise into mid teens as the day moves along. Rain for the weekend.

A flying trip to Fredericton today, Nursing Home replacement on the Agenda, have a vehicle on Blacks side so getting there no problem, returning somewhat of a challenge.

Have been reminded near time to get underway, will see if weather inland any better.

A grand weather day yesterday, don't know what happened overnight. Wooly this morning, just see over the seawall, calm, temp a mild 12C. Supposed to clear however not much indication this is going to happen. At least the temps going in the right direction.

Ferry situation has no resolution, spoke with officials yesterday, any options they have explored have had to be rejected for whatever reason. The BLACK BOAT, nearly full on each trip. The commercial traffic taking a hit due to small number she can carry, and if tide is down tractor trailers can't get on the ramp further closing the window of opportunity.

The weather turning around, no wind, temp already at 10C, overcast but fog burnt off, and a hint of sun in the sky. Today and tomorrow similar weather with showers returning for the weekend.

Black Boat chugging back and forth, leaves the island at 0730HRS, her last trip of five has been getting her tied up her at 0400. Two crews to keep her going, still much traffic to contend with, commercial traffic a big concern. The Govt. continues to explore options, many vessels have been rejected due to incompatibility to the wharf. The GRAND MANAN V has arrived and is hauled out ready for work, she is supposed to be off NO MORE than FIFTEEN DAYS.

Kids back in school today after an extra long weekend, this will be the dash to the finish for this school year. Emily writes exams around 10 JUN, same for Rob I susupect, another year almost done.

The weather remains consistant, poor, temp 7C, rain, southerly @25-30KPH. Indicating a change for tomorrow then back to damp conditions for the remainder of the week.

Both kids below decks at the same time for quite awhile. Emily returned last evening, had a grand time, and looking forward to a return visit ASAP.

Ferry situation remains unknonw, there is a flow of traffic, but far from what it should be at this time of year. One of the big concerns is the ability to make Dr.'s appointments, you don't know if you can away on time, then the uncertainty of getting home at a decent time is a cause for further anxiety.

The weatherman said sun for today, got it wrong, overcast, a hint of southerly wind, clouds appear that they will open up very soon. No good weather in the forecast for the week. Temp remains cool @6C, no great increase in the forecast this week.

The ferry situation remains the same, however have been advised the govt. is well aware of the longterm consequences of depending on just the Black Boat. However to locate a suitable vessel on such short notice is proving to be a challenge.

We did manage to get the upper hand, sort of, on the lawn and other outside chores yesterday. The lawn mowing involved a bit of water between here and the seawall, but it is done.

Dreary weather remains the norm for this part of the world, a brisk breeze from NE, combined with a temp of only 5C requires a woodfire to keep warm. Mostly cloudy the forecast for next couple of days, then rain for the remainder of the week.

GRAND MANAN V has departed for repairs in Quebec, a long three day sail to get her there, repairs then sail home. We are going to be in need for a long time, the Black Boat doing yeoman service. However she can't begin to handle both the personal and commercial traffic. Haven't had any word from Government Officials if they are even searching for a replacement vessel to assist. Many local businesses in jeporday as this is a big part of their yearly season for bringing in cash.

Emily quite enjoying her time in Quispam, would suggest that moving herself to the mainland in a couple of years not a trauma for her. Rob bonding with a group getting a camp ready for occupation. Camp has electricty from the house X-box not sacrificed - a good thing.

Yardwork continues to be left behind due to the weather. Will be a charge once weather permits lawn resembles a hayfield more than anything.

Not much for the long weekend weather wise, thick fog, calm, to change to NE and wind later on today. Temp a nice 12C, but damp does not to the descriptive justice, more like wet, still minor to what other folks have to endure.

Travel to the island now an adventure with only the Black Boat hauling the load. Got in the parking lot in Blacks at 2:30PM, got on the boat at 11PM, drove in the yard at 1AM. The little boat making five trips, in reality running around the clock moving people and freight. Nary a word of complaint did I hear, even the children seemed to be taking things in stride.

The GRAND MANAN V still in Blacks awaiting a spot to haul her out for repairs, she will be off the run for an extended period. Nobody injured when she hit the wharf and grounded out, evacuation orderly lots of hands helping those that required it. Am sure more stories to be told, crew of the ferry professional, and knew what was required of them. One figure have heard approx. 30K trips, first incident of this nature, this due to mechanical failure not human error.

Emily visiting in Quispam, Rob around the neighbourhood somewhere. Lots of yardwork awaits, but weather keeping it from being any use to go there.

Weather remains dreary, at least the wind has relented for the moment, still from the NE @ 10-15KPH. Drizzle and showers till the weekend. Temp rising a bit into low double digits.

Off to northern half of the the province for the remainder of the week attending a conference of Municipal Administrators from across the province. Have driven by Grand Falls, never have stopped till now.

Reno underway, Donna has a mess with the gyprock and wet from outside tracking through her house. The penalty for renewal I guess.

The weather remains wet,windy, and cool at 4C, wind from NE 25-35KPH. This the order of the day for the remainder of the week. Gulls walking around the lawn, either too much weather or they are cleaning up on slugs.

A few boats fishing yestereday in anticipation of this mess, season comes to an end by end of June. Haven't heard if the catch is picking up or remaining static.

Bathroom reno underway today,amazing how much stuff is stored in such a small room.

Weatherman has it correct this morning, drizzle, overcast, calm and a cool 7C. This in the offing for the next few days.

The ladies have put their road trip off for now, not much fun dodging rain drops when visiting Garden Centres. Donna has managed to get some of her things done this past couple of days, will have to stand down today.

Emily's school Culinary Class, prepared and served a seven course meal last evening. The proceeds to for local charity, nearly 12 hours from start to finish for them. Rob volunteered for the kitchen work, however don't believe his charitable deed was to impress his sister, but another member of the class.

Did manage to get a couple of loads of wood in the yard, and even manufacture some yesterday. Mid-May and still burning, new one for us. No complaints once you see what Manitoba and Louisiana folks are contending with, beyond comprehension.

North east still persists, a steady 20-25KPH, overcast, low lying cloud, another hundred feet, and can call it fog. Temp continues cool @6C, rain in the offing by this afternoon continues well into next week.

Rob out overnight, celebrating one of his music buddies 16th, sounds like a kitchen party with XBox thrown in for good measure. Instruments aplenty, and lots of anticipation of what they could be doing over the night with a spectrum of music tastes represented. Country music to Heavy Metal, certainly would be loud for sure.

Emily beginning another addition to her resume, working a shift here and there at Conveinance Store. Enjoyed the time, and works with one of her group from school. The contrast continues, a social animal, and one that likes to acquire cash.

First thing this morning appeared the weatherman had the wrong forecast, now corrected itself. For a brief moment bright sun, now overcast, a cool 5C, the brisk northerly breeze continues. Damp weather to remain, with temps rising, the only changes for next week.

The yard nice and green, don't know what will go through the grass to get it under control if and when we get on the mower again.

A few brant infront of the house, operative word few. There have not been the numbers that we have seen in the past. Did have a raft of them near enough to the shore last evening to hear them conversing with one another.

Fall like conditions persist, a cool 6C, NNE breeze 35-40KPH, a threat of showers throughout the day. A slight chance of capturing a glimpse of the sun tomorrow then rain well into the next week. May is more like April Showers.

Little lobster fishing being done, a few hardy souls thrashing and banging around to make a days pay.

The flooding in Manitoba continues to be in the news, a once in a 300 year flood underway. Today one of the dikes destined to be intentionally breached in hopes of sacrificing some properties in hoping of saving many more.

Weatherman has given a reprieve on the rain, still windy from N @30-35KPH, a cool 6C. Forecast indicating showers instead of rain till the weekend and now seems beyond.

Not much fishing going on in these condtions, have noticed fresh bait still arrriving. Won't remains in the fresh class by the time it gets overboard.

Middle of May and required a woodfire to give the house some level of comfort. The north wind not one to let the electric heat have a hope of getting ahead of the temps outside.

The weatherman continues to get the poor weather correct, the northerly persists near gale force all night. Temp 7C, steady breeze 35-40KPH,showers the order of the day until Thursday as things stand at the moment.

The trip coming and going not an issue yesterday, local travellers. The trip shortned a great deal by sharing local knowledge and events both coming and going. The boat hardly moved, when the new one is on the run the weather watchers will have to extend their threshold for not travellig.

Believe the grass is greener and leaves may be further along here on the Bermuda of the Maritimes. Hard weather to look around the Garden Centres, but Donna & Patsy doing their annual run this coming weekend.

Weatherman missed it yesterday, with a nice sunny Mothers Day as a result.Seems to have his act together this morning, overcast,NE breeze seems to becoming up with the sun, expect gale force overnight into tomorrow. Lots of rain till end of the week, temps supposed to be in double digits.

A day long run to St.John, Donna's dad has a couple of appointments to tend, one this morning then early afternoon. If the forecast is correct the wind will be starting to pick up once we start home this evening.

Fishery news focused on lobsters, see bait from the American side arrived yesterday. No herring locally as yet, summer could be different in that part of the industry, appears there will be a penalty for landing small herring, all that has been showing up for the past few seasons.

Overcast,calm, damp making the 8C seem much cooler than it should be. The long range shows not a hint of sun till Thursday, and then only a change, rain and showers the order of the day.

Too damp to accomplish anything in the yard, or attempt to get the last couple of loads of wood in the yard. Still suggesting a warm and dry summer, could use just a bit of it at the moment, then string it out after that.

Quiet Mothers Day, Donna has her tree in the ground, and a couple of cards acknowledge the day for her.

A grand beginning to the weekend, clear, calm, a pleasant 10C expected to rise well into the teens. Wet weather this way comes for the most of next week.

Emily froze during the parallel parking, he give her three opportunities not even close. She has aced this prior, so her mind what was coming next instead of paying attention to the task at hand. Appointment first week in June for the next go round.

Rob off to the big smoke with his new found family, quite a group of them, four of them and he as an escort makes for quite a car load.

Donna getting some quality time in her gardens, beginning to take shape. Now have enough solar lamps to land aircraft should they become lost in the area.

Rain has let up, but not very far away by the look of the sky to west. A 10-15KPH SSW breeze, expect to clear later today, and possibly tomorrow, long range looking pretty damp and windy.

Emily has a visitor from Quispam, and driving test this morning, a busy time for her. Hoping with the extra support in her corner will make the difference.

If all stays according to plan the new ferry GRAND MANAN ADVENTURE to begin her run on 27 JUN 11. She will soon begin her trials in Florida waters, take a week to get her north then Canadian Officials will go over her, plus getting provisions aboard. A hectic few weeks in store for those directly involved.

Lots of rain overnight, showers the order of the day. Currently calm, temp 8C, can make out the shoreline on Ross Island, fog down to the tree tops over there. This is the weather till the weekend.

Kids have a long weekend in the making, no school tomorrow. A couple of weeks will be the first long weekend of the summer season, then a month or so school will be concluded for another school year. Emily activly searching for summer work, Rob on the other hand has some 'ideas' of what he will be doing.

Weather remains consistent, except the fog has disappaited enough to see the Ross Island Shore, temp 5C, a southerly breeze 10-15KPH. No change anticipated for the next few days.

The damp weather is turning things green, the trees are coming to life, and fields quickly loosing the brown that we have come accustomed to.

Shauna returned from a few days in St.Stephen, and all points in between. She had a grand visit and successful shopping opportunities.

Maritime weather for sure, calm, cool, fog, temp 5C to rise into double digits. This is the weather for the next sevral days.

Election held some surprises, for the first time in Five Years a majority government, with NDP, a few years ago referred to as, if polite as socialist, now the Official Oppositon. The oldest party reduced to thrid place, and the separtist Blco Quebecois reduced to only four seats. Interesting politics in store for the next little while.

Donna & Emily managed to get one of the gardens completed, now will be a few days before they can get their hands dirty again, due to the weather.

The northerly persists, 10-15KPH, temp a cool 3C, forecast to go into high teens. The remainder of the week looking cool and damp, more like April weather than May conditions.

One boat fishing in the harbour, a bit early for traps this far in, however they have to have a look sometime. No sign of waterfowl, the brant numbers haven't materialized on this side of the harbour, the overall number seems to be less near the shore.

Fishery news remains quiet, with lobsters being the only game in town. Haven't heard of any wier work underway as yet, the weather hasn't been condusive to pounding stakes for quite sometime.
