Lots of sun, windy from west 20-25KPH, cool @2C feels like -2C. Once again weather pattern changing to 'seasonable' looking similar for the next several days.

Rob traveling with youth group, left noon boat for Moncton, mall crawl, bowling, Cyrstal Palace, and hockey game. No lay down return on first boat this morning.He will no doubt crash once he gets near his man pit. Emily out watching movies for the evening, but did return to her abode late.

Trick or Treat decreed by Council for this evening rather than Sunday. RCMP are preparing for both nights, a bit of confusion will have to see how it goes. At least the weather seem to be co-operating for the goblins to do do their thing.

A weather change for a few hours, total calm,cooler temp @4C, expected to rise into low double digits. Rain to return for tomorrow and Sunday.

Kids attended the High School Dance last night, Emily in costume, Rob not cool to be so silly went as himself. Sounds as if all hands had a good time, lots of what passes for dancing the order of the evening.

Ice making a success, a bit difficult for the construction gang, interior of arena down to -8C at one time. Now turned off till the construction moves under cover, at that time boards will be up and ice making can begin. Construction at the stage where no progress seems to be done then "when did that get done"

Thick fog,less than 1/2 mile visibility, calm, a balmy 13C once again. Temp to rise high teens, remain overcast clearing later tomorrow.

Ice making machinery in commence, slowly bringing building down into the minus range. Plan is to have it going for a few days to insure dependability then shut it off to allow other trades to get their work done, and do what painting is required. Goal is to start putting ice in by end of November, and open for public by mid-December.

Fishery news quiet, less than two weeks till Lobster Season,appears most are prepared. Time to do a bit of deer hunting in anticipation of the start of the season. Speculation on price the big topic of conversation when a few of the fisherman gather.

My prediction that double digit temps would be hard to come by certainly off the mark. Thick fog, a southerly draft @ 15KPH, temp a mild 12C. Appears this is our weather for the next few days.

The friends on the prairie have endured a blast of winter, plenty early no matter what part of the country you call home.

Trip to Fredericton productive, the design of the new facility well done. Still require some more info on the land, plan is to have them completed ASAP, then move on to purchase and preparation.

Not many travelling yesterday, lots of room, locals so another opportunity to remain current on the island news.

Raining, calm, a balmy 12C, looking for rain most of the day, and into next few days. Warms temps to remain with us till at least the weekend, fine with me.

A quick trip to Fredericton for an afternoon meeting, getting down to the important strokes on the new Nursing Home project. Today is a first look at the preliminary design of the facility. We now have 15K sq. ft moving to 30K, however no increase in number of beds.

Two weeks to Setting Day, one longrange indicating great temps leading up but actual day forecast at -5C. Temps in that range have not been the case for many years, not looking forward to a possible return.

Overcast, calm, a nice temp @8C, expected to remain overcast, the rain now down to possible showers, temp to rise into double digits, on the low side. Forecast changing to less moisture and overcast with clear periods.

Hunting Season started on the weekend, Donna's dad lamented that he and Gerald missed Opening Day first since World War Two. They hope to visit their blinds sometime during the season as they both have licences, now if they carry a firearm or not is another thought.

Clear, a cool 3C, draft from WSW, looking for a nice weather day. Weather pattern changing to rain and mid-teens for highs all next week.

Lots of wind yesterday, more going than returning, no motion on the boat, all local travelling, lots of visiting must be caught up on all the important goings on by this time.

Emily did not enjoy driving in the city, not the same as taking a jaunt to North Head. Rob out overnight once again, managed to get Donna purchase a new distortion pedal for his guitar. Prior to going anywhere he had the house reverberating from distortion.

Time to change the morning descriptors clear, windy and cool this morning. Temp 3C, westerly wind at 35C giving a windchill of -2C. Cool temps the norm for the longrange forecast, double digits on the plus side will be hard to come by.

Off to retrieve Donna this morning, wind will be a concern for her, however changing NW, the boat just lays over and comes along with no motion. Emily off on next trip for her driving lesson in St. John, she is a little excited and nervous about driving in the big centre.

Rob and his gang spent the evening playing poker, seemed to be quite a large group for one table. Male bonding a fun thing with that bunch for sure.

Overcast, a cool 4C pushed around by WSW breeze around 20KPH, gauge advises seems like 1C. Rained overnight, calling for for clearing trend and cooler over the weekend.

Donna's return to her real world tomorrow, can't seem to get the impression that she is having any problems staying at her present location for a little longer.

Arena showing some real progress with the bleachers now completed, and the drywall going on.The ice making just about completed, the boards next week if all goes as planned. The target to go is 1 DEC 10, other trades coming next week should go along way to making that date possible.

Sky quickly becoming overcast, the wind calm at the moment, however flag is beginning to stir as the sun rises. Temp a respectable 6C, expect double digits again today. Rain in the forecast for today and tomorrow, then back to nice weather.

Arena beginning to cause a stir in the community, daily visits the norm. A lot of shaking of heads as people find it hard to believe our community to have such a first class facility. The challenge now to maintain and utilize to the maximum, a culture change in the local sports world for sure.

Approx. a week ago human remains washed ashore on Castalia Bank. The remains partial no determination other than human has been announced. No local missing persons are known, extreme weather conditions when the discovery was made, very little speculation at this time of whether male or female or what the circumstances placed the individual in the water.

Donna appears to be getting on quite well without her charges about her.

Another fall morning a slight draft from SW, temp a respectable 6C, expected to get into the mid teens as the day unfolds, weather forecast still remains on the positive side moving forward.

Quiet in the fishery world, just anticipation of what the new lobster season will look like, not much going on in the herring world, seiners still working, but weirs seem quiet ith a number of them done for the season.

Donna has a couple of good days into her R&R regimen, and looking forward to more of the same over the next few days.

Clear, calm, temp a cool 4C, sun making an appearance over Ross Island with a customary red glow. Weather remaining cool, but clear for the next several days.

Donna had an uneventful trip across to Blacks, well ensconced at YoHo, a project to get underway today. Nothing to strenuous as the DIY's may be as energized as ever the stamina ain't what it once was.

Fishing preparation given over to Deer Season preparation. Seems to be alot of apples making their way into the woods making sure the animals are well fed up to the last minute.

A fair amount of wind overnight, westerly 20-25KPH, making the 6Ctemp seem cooler. To remain clear and stagger into double digits as the day unfolds. Week continues to look pretty good, especially from a temp perspective.

Donna now underway, leaving the house this morning in the dark the wind seemed a bit more hardy that it actually is. She was a bit apprehensive, but a few days at YoHo a strong pull, no comments other than lets go.

No geese this morning, on our Sunday patrol found they had returned to Whale Cove, interesting route.

Clear, a brisk NW breeze 20-25KPH, 7C to rise into double digits. Similar weather pattern with a bit cooler temps in the offing for the upcoming week.

Emily overnighting at babysitting gig, Rob and his X-Box complete with television across the street since yesterday.

A couple of wayward Snow Geese on the lawn this morning, believe they have been at Whale Cove for sometime, must be getting ready to head to the south'ard. They are definatly off their usual flyway.

Donna watching the wind, her fall R&R at YoHo Lake schedule to commence tomorrow, weather permitting. Looking pretty good at the moment, will be some wind, but no easterly.

Overcast, calm, 9C,showers and wind in the forecast later on today and into the evening. Wind and clearing as wind goes to the west for next several days.

The harbour now oily calm, tide well up, a few waterfowel evident. The swell from yesterday's blow running up onto the Ross Island shore in fine style. Nearly pond like between the house and shoreline, surely we have enough water in the water table to get us through the winter.

Ferry made first run in the morning, then held up till last evening. Looking out over Pettes Cove yesterday lots of holes in the Bay, something we would expect in January.

Rob out overnight, Emily below decks, has a babysitting gig this evening.

No sun evident this morning, in the midst of the forecasted N'OREASTER, wind from NNE @50-55KPH expected to be in the 50KT range after the sun gets up. Lots of rain temp 11C, will rise slightly however weather conditions to remain till tomorrow. Lots of wind in the offing till next week, southerly and westerly, quite a mix.

There will be no bait this morning, as the wind come up shortly after dark, and just kept on coming. Be some visits around the various 'shores' this morning. Weather like this a great chance to visit and tell nothing but the truth on all subjects from kids to politics.

Arena progess now visual, can see a great progression by the end of each day.

Another brilliant red sun this morning, from where I am sitting just over the remnants of Ross Island Light. Absolute calm, a chilly 1C, frost heavy enough to be reflecting the red of the morning. Rain and wind tomorrow and into the weekend.

Ice making machinery arrived and unloaded yesterday. The crew immediately set to work getting the installation underway. This crew combined with the other trades makes the arena a happening spot.

Lobster bait just about done for this season, new quota in effect in a day or so. With some uncertainties of what next year might be quota wise guys are reluctant to draw down on what might be a reduced amount in 2011.

Another fine looking morning, the Frost Warnings can quit as it has arrived. Not a heavy dose of frost, but certainly our first shot, must be one of the latests visits, usually have a shot by mid-September. Calm, temp 3C, to rise into mid teens by afternoon. Similar weather till weekend then a NE influence of wind and rain.

Rob has taken some initiative, and will be aboard PAP'S KIDS when we set traps next month. I believe he wanted me to approach on his behalf, however he made the call. He sees the cash, not the elements he will have to deal with to earn it, a good learning occasion for him.

Arena coming along well, electricians on site, plumbers and ventilation gangs showing up today and tomorrow, the ice making gear anticipated to arrive today. Impressive to say the least, lots of workers required to get r done.

A KODAK MOMENT underway as the sun makes its appearance. The sky almost purple, reflecting through high cloud cover.Calm, half tide making the harbour a huge reflecting pond. A cool 3C at the moment, weather still looking good for next few days.

Kids back to school today, next holiday not till 11 NOV.Soon should be learning just what has been going on with the learning curve. Anytime question is asked, answer, almost in unison, just fine what do you expect.

Lobster fishing preparation well underway, most fellows have at least a start on the salt bait. A few boats haven't a full crew for Setting Day and beyond for banding those first days when the catch is at the largest quantity. Rob wants to go, but his sea sickness affliction makes the possiblity very remote.

THANKSGIVING DAY OCTOBER 11/10

Wind remains from the west currently10-15KPH to increase as it has for the past week or so. Temp a cool 6C might get into double digits, lots of sun remains the order of the day.

Rob enjoying his weekend off, his own rack will seem strange to him tonight. He out again last night, Emily holding down the fort, and looking after her Nan as Donna now in possession of the 'mess' also.

Today seems proper to get the wood stand on the verandah, longrange calling for cool temps. The season has changed into fall routine. The trees getting to their annual glory, but wind raising havoc with them remaining on the trees.

Lots of sun, a cool 6C, a westerly draft around 10C, temp will get into double digits, but by how much remains to be seen.

Emily home overnight, Rob out once again, certainly saves on his mattress.

Donna's dad in last evening for Birthday Cake, along with a few of the immediate family and extended group. It is a good thing he appreciates chocolate, should have enough to get him into the Xmas Season.

Thanksgiving Dinner here this afternoon, Donna's aunt and her father the only extras at the table this year.

Damned cold hangs on, as a result the outside chores are beginning to build up. No gimp to get at them, mostly a head cold, but not sleep as a consequence beginning to take a toll on the old frame.

Clear, a cool 8C, not expected to rise about low teens, similar longrange forecast, but lots of sun for next week or so. Wind from WNW @ 10KPH, this first time it has not been giving the leaves a shot for past several days.

Emily home yesterday afternoon,from her babysitting duties, Rob graced the ranch for a few hours overnighting in the Deep Cove area. No doubt get a pick up request later on this afternoon.

One bunch of bait tubs went by early, don't know if they are full or just getting the truck off the wharf.

Thanksgiving Weekend chores, windows must be washed to get rid of summer accumulation and prepare them for salt that will be in the air from the winter winds.

Partial overcast at the moment, 10KPH WSW, temp 8C to rise slightly as the day moves along, still calling for showers. Nice weather and seasonable temps for the weekend and into next week.

Emily babysitting overnight, and today, Rob out once again overnight.As a consequence fairly quiet around the ranch past few hours.

Lots of wind past several days has kept the bait traffic down, can't imagine that it was fit to work last night.

The ice making equipment showing up next week, however can't get on the concrete for another week or so. The installers will be doing the preliminaries to get the outfit ready to go ASAP, before going on the new slab.

Attempting to clear, however strong SW indicates a losing battle. Temp an acceptable 11C, might rise to mid-teens, rain in the forecast till tomorrow, looking good for the Thanksgiving Weekend, then moisture first of the week.

Another WEATHERUNDERGROUNDER from the Philadelphia area, took the extra time and effort to look me up yesterday. Dick doing a bit of exploring, has been in the Maritimes before, however not to the Bermuda of the Maritimes. Great to have somebody take the extra effort, and look you up when they do. Thats a couple of UNDERGROUNDERs this year.

Kids off school till next Tuesday, a combination of Teacher Development Days and Thanksgiving Holiday makes a good break for them.Rob out overnight, Emily sequestered in her pit, at least for last night.

Mostly overcast, 12C temp, expected to rise to high teens once again. Fall NE breeze 20-25KPH underway, typical October weather, getting us prepared for the winter months.

Bait coming ashore yesterday, haven't seen any trucks going by this morning, fish remain small. Has not been any larger fish all summer, no explanation given as to why the more mature fish never showed up.

Arena construction well underway, can get a great view of how things will look once construction is done. The contractor has spared no expense on insuring the finished product will be second to none for quality and capacity.

Oily calm this morning, partial overcast, temp 11C to rise upper teens, still the forecast for next couple of days.

Quite a bit of wind yesterday, both coming and going, spray on the windows, but boat never boat much. Full trip in the morning, we come back on the second, quite a bit of traffic, and a number of 'strangers from away'.

The wind may have kept the seiner tied up night before last, but some evidence that they were successful last night. Quite a lot of fish on the back of Whitehead, and apparently a little larger.

Whale Watching done for this season, with the Right Whales showing up later than usual. The other species that have been here all summer appears to moved off.

The first day of our supposed extended sunshine in jeopardy, overcast, 20-25KPH from NE, temp 10C. Now calling for clearing skies tomorrow with rain by the end of the week.

A quick run to St. John with Donna's dad for a Dr.'s appointment, plan is to be home on the 1:30PM, appointment shortly after 10AM, if with the built in office wait should be able to make it back to Blacks.

Emily did a bit of a tour of Charlotte County on her driving school hours, St. Andrews and St. George, next trip puts her in St. John. She is a bit apprehensive about that, but also looking forward to it, after all that is where the shopping is.

Great looking morning, bright sun rise over Ross Island, a bit cool@7C, to rise into mid teens, not enough air moving to lift the flag. Similar weather pattern till weeks end.

Rob out overnight, Emily off on the next boat for her driving lesson on the mainland. She has stayed close to the fort this weekend.

Final grooming for the yard just about complete, ready for the winter.Forecast is for winter to begin later due to high ground and water temps. However not to expect an open winter as last year.

Ross Island very evident this morning, with this amount of westerly wind, skies clearing, rain has stopped after raining all night. Lots of water between here and the shoreline. Blowing 20-25KPH NW, temp a respectable 14C.

Rob out overnight, a different type of bonding with females specific to his care mentioned as part of the evening plans. A first that he has acknowledged. Emily out for the evening, returned to the fort for the night.

Changes at the arena now a daily occurrence,he dream is becoming a reality, what is being provided second to none. Now have to work on obtaining a proper score clock and canteen supplies for cooking. The ZAMBONI in the paint shop yesterday,it will be ready for delivery when we are ready to accept it in the next very few weeks.

An unusual combination this morning fog and fairly high winds from SW @ 30-35kph. Rain in the forecast today and tomorrow, this system moves off, and Indian Summer like conditions forecast next week, tis the season.

Final pour of concrete yesterday, quite an event, pump truck from St. John, excess of 200 yards of concrete, 15 men working on the pour. Last evening finishing crew expected to be on site till wee hours of this morning. A number of folks visited during the process, suitably impressed. The facility going to be something to be proud of for sure.

Emily appears to be on the mend, still not eating much, and mumbling alot when asked a question. However the mumbling really not a sign other that it is morning.
