DEBATE ON GLOBAL WARMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is my continuing blog on global warming. If you are new visitor, please look at last couple of blog entrys also on global warming!!!!

"There are so many arguments proving & disputing global warming that people can't seem to agree completly on it. But for all the preperations that we make for hurricanes & other disasters, what do we have to lose if we prepare for global warming as if the worst might come true?
The answer is pure common sense. We should try to eliminate the variables that cause global warming instead of just arguing about it. It's like a hurricane- if we prepare for the worst, it can only save lives & money. If it does not come, no one will have been hurt & we may even have a healthier Earth."

Every agency does in one way or another, such as receiving funds for continuing their "research".
Whether it be govt. or private funding...
Tell that to the martians........
lolol
Let me ask you a ? How's the gas prices in your area??? lol
YET........
LOLOL
You know, the region with the highest gas prices.....
lolol
If ya really want to get the OIL COMPANY debate going lets talk about the billions of gallons of crude WE have underground!!
If we drill to bring it up it will cost even more, not to speak of ,if we DO,the OPECers will flood the market and bring the value of OUR drilled oil even LOWER!!!
Yes the oil companies are ripping us off, but that's the society we live in, A free but expensive market.....
Alternatives are really the answer......
For global and economic reasons!!
But when you have to "plug in" an electric car, doesn't that take electricity?
LOLOL
And ethanol.... the price of corn has doubled, so that will make that "alternative" even more expensive and possibly equal to the cost of fossil fules.......
LOLOL
gas here is about 3.30 a gal. still
K, so lets get the oil debate going since that is MY MAIN beef anyways....
Your oil here in the U.S. ahhhhh just a drop in the bucket my friend!!!!!! Oil IS a FINITE source. We need to step into the new millenium with fresh ideas for energy, not still dragging our heels on last millenium technology
the replacement cost would be outrageous for cars.....
not to speak of the problem of disposal....
and then the problem of on the road auto accidents, blowing up batteries ,and the contents of those batteries being spilled all over the roadways.......
hydrogen is the short term and maybe the long term solution for combustion motor vehicles!
It is just not chep enough right now, and there is not enough investment in that direction
it is environmet friendly, and you could have a hydrogen producing "machine" at your house
but "fuel" tanks would have to be bigger , because it needs twice as much of that fuel to equal that of gasoline consumption
and it would take electricity to power the hydrogen producing machine...
But then, what about the safety of a tank of hydrogen in your car?????
LOLOL
1. replacement costs- Sure enough RIGHT NOW it would be a hefty sum to say the least. At the same time think of all the money saved not replacing all the other things that go with internal combustion engines(oil changes, exhaust replacement, air filters etc.... Also Tesla I am pretty sure is working on this. Not to mention, who said anything about disposing of them? RECYCLE!!!!
2. battery dangers- Tesla definitly did some serious research on this problem. They have perfected this technology!! Not to mention at the same time, what about the dangers of GASOLINE under those same scenarios????????
3. Which leads me to the hydrogen, a total pipe dream to say the least!!!!! Think of ALL the dangers associated with that!!!!
Do me a favor Lightning, really look over the Tesla website cause they address all the questions you are asking!! I DID do my homework my friend!!!!!
Link
It's a FAQ page & they do have answers to the battery questions!!!!
If I said it once, I've said it a hundred times, Tesla has the RIGHT vision for the RIGHT time in history!!!!!!!
Problem solved!!!

US could have acted sooner if experts had reached consensus

In an extraordinary outburst aimed at America's failure to tackle global warming, Al Gore says that if scientific agreement on the climate crisis had been reached sooner it would have been easier to "galvanise the public and persuade Congress to act".
The failed presidential candidate claims that the stronger scientific consensus he knew was about to emerge meant "we in the US were about to shift into high gear in addressing the climate crisis". Mr Gore argues that if he had made it to the White House, he would have been able to use the office as a "bully pulpit" to achieve change.
"The nature and severity of the climate crisis had seemed painfully obvious to me for quite a long time," claims Mr Gore, writing in a new foreword to a revised edition of his book, Earth in the Balance, being published this week.
In a swipe at the scientific community, he says: "I wish that we could have had in the 1990s the deafening scientific consensus that has emerged in more recent years."
Mr Gore accuses his nemesis, President George Bush, of having taken "virtually no steps to address the problem. Worse, he and Vice President Cheney have led the nation in precisely the wrong direction."
He goes on to detail how the Bush administration reversed a pledge to regulate carbon dioxide as a pollutant, pulled out of negotiations on the Kyoto treaty and replaced key scientific advisers with ones suggested by oil giant ExxonMobil.
The point of no return will be reached within 10 years, the former vice president says, and we cannot wait any longer to solve the crisis. He blames a focus on instant gratification for the "exclusion of long-term consequences in our decisions and policies" and writes about his "mission of solving the climate crisis". His Oscar-winning documentary on climate change, An Inconvenient Truth, became the surprise box-office hit of 2006.
Mr Gore claims that concerns over the environment formed his "principal agenda for eight years in the White House". But he is light on details of what he did while in office, beyond a brief mention of his work with the Kyoto treaty (which was never ratified by Congress).
During his tenure as vice president, America's carbon dioxide emissions shot up far faster than at any time in modern history - by 15 per cent, compared to just 1.65 per cent during President Bush's first term.
Although Mr Gore is currently promoting the Live Earth concerts that will take place next month, speculation is increasing that he may exploit the surge in his popularity and run for president in 2008 - 20 years after first standing for the office.
He is one of a growing number of political figures who have embraced the green cause.

Ohhh Boy... Well he did it again! He opened his mouth again! This time I think he opened it too far & he is going to have his teeth kicked in lol

MELTING ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica will cause the sea level to rise much faster than previously anticipated, according to alarming new NASA research.
The alarming prediction was made by a research team led by James Hansen, from NASA's Goddard Institute, and published in a peer-reviewed paper titled Climate Change and Trace Gases.
The document argues the Earth is perilously close to entering a new era of runaway climate change, warning that while conditions are currently classified as "serious", they are likely to tip into "dangerous" over the next decade.
It says while the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change had forecast a sea level rise of 18cm-59cm, that figure did not take into account melting ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica.
"That's beginning to lose mass and is situated on a bedrock below sea level, so it's potentially unstable and could give a very large sea-level rise," Mr Hansen said.
Beyond Zero Emissions spokesman Matthew Wright said immediate action was needed.
"There is little point setting 2020 or 2050 greenhouse gas reduction targets," he said.
"We have too much carbon in the air now, in 2007."

Our planet's climate is anything but simple. All kinds of factors influence it, from massive events on the Sun to the growth of microscopic creatures in the oceans, and there are subtle interactions between many of these factors.
Yet despite all the complexities, a firm and ever-growing body of evidence points to a clear picture: the world is warming, this warming is due to human activity increasing levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, and if emissions continue unabated the warming will too, with increasingly serious consequences.
Yes, there are still big uncertainties in some predictions, but these swing both ways. For example, the response of clouds could slow the warming or speed it up.
With so much at stake, it is right that climate science is subjected to the most intense scrutiny. What does not help is for the real issues to be muddied by discredited arguments or wild theories.
So for those who are not sure what to believe, here is our round-up of the 26 most common climate myths and misconceptions.
There is also a guide to assessing the evidence. In the articles we've included lots of links to primary research and major reports for those who want to follow through to the original sources.

Hmmm I have not seen any problems with the site this afternoon or now, sure it's not on your end?
My blog is a debate that I can assure you.As far as your DVD PLEASE tell me it's not that English documentary that was totally debunked lol
It seems to me that most people are blind to the BIG issues facing this country & US as a civilization! Just look at the gas prices. Sure everyone bickers a little but nothing gets done. Has to be a movement & it has to start grass-roots with all of us!
