Hi, folks!
Esbat tonight! …but it’s too wet for Herbs Outdoors.
There’s a steady drizzle going but it’s fairly bright outside. At one point the sun was actually shining through the clouds and heating the dark roof of the rental house causing clouds of steam to blow past on the breeze.
It’s not nearly as windy as it was yesterday and in the low 50’s.
I have to remember to get the plants back out that we were worried were going to be frosted. My fuchsia baskets especially need that…and Tempus was in and out and we talked about it. …Now he’s sneezing….It’s amazing how that man can sound like he’s exploding….that was seven sneezes…. Wow….
Travis and Hatch are still here. They and Tempus had a long talk last night… problems…but doesn’t everyone have those?
I did get some work done on Café Press products. I’m starting to integrate more of the new stuff into the old design lines. They’ve got duvet covers and shower curtains, now! The “shower curtains” are washable polyester, not vinyl, and require a liner, so I’m thinking those would work for large banners and curtains, as well….
I read a bit, too. I’m trying to work through some of the tougher books in my stack. It looks like my “to read” pile is down to 12 books, but I don’t trust that, since there’s another stack at the shop.
I also worked on a couple of designs for the historical re-creation group that some of us are playing with. I had to figure out a pattern for a piece of clothing that I know how to make, but wanted to get to the right shape once it’s draped. Tempus had to dig out some pictures from his files and then I had to play with the drawings.
I wish I had the energy to get out to the garden. I keep sitting in the study staring out the window at it and all I’ve managed is a little weeding in the railing planters. I want to try to get out there today to see if I can get some more seed in and see if anything is actually coming up.
I’ve been watching house sparrows and a chickadee argue over who owns the feeder. That was a lot of squawking and fluttering feathers! …and then a Stellar Jay showed up and it turned into a moot point.

Self-work is always difficult. It’s really hard to see what’s actually going on in everyone else’s universe. Mental habits….
…and truly…. We’re talking *habits*! I get awfully tired of hearing, “I can’t”, when the actual problem is, “I won’t!” It’s perfectly ok to say, “I haven’t managed to do that, yet.” That statement goes right to strategies for getting where you want to go, but, “I can’t,”…. Well, you just stop there and make no progress. It’s one thing to have a physical condition that slows you down or stops you where you say, “I can’t, right now.” I used to get awfully mad at Grandma for saying, “I can’t eat that!” because those were all sympathy ploys that she didn’t even see herself doing…and she was a *lot* better than that…. “I have to watch my carb intake,” is very different from “I can’t.”
Ah, the fuchsias are back in place! …and the phone is ringing and I hear thumping in the doorway so the boys are back.
The shop is closed on Tuesday/Wednesday. Spring hours, 11am-7pm, Thursday through Monday. If we’re supposed to be closed, but it looks like we’re there, try the door. If it’s open, the shop’s open!

Magick – (cribbed from Granny Moon a decade ago….original writer unknown)
In one of my many books I found instructions on making a Pelen Tan. This is a Druidic Device that translates as "fire globe". The effect in the dark is a suspended flame within a globe and acts as a cobalt light or blue ultra-violet light which highlights white tones or a infra-red light that highlights black tones depending on the paint you choose. This light is suppose to be great for doing rituals. I think that it is easy to make and it would go perfectly in your house.
Pelen Tan
• You need
1. a large glass globe(s) to be purchased from a lighting supply store (you can also use jars if you want to go simple)
2. a small candle holder for each globe
3. a rich, dark blue glass stain (to highlight white) or deep rich red glass stain (to highlight black) (purchased from a hobby shop.)
4. twine, rope, leather or thin chain to make a hanging basket to hold the globe
5. a black candle for inside of each globe. (Black is nearly invisible in blue light.)
• Paint the glass stain on the outside of the globe using a good brush to prevent streaking. (You might need several coats.)
• Glue the small candle holder inside on the bottom of the globe
• Construct a hanging basket out of the material of your choice strong enough to carry and hang the Pelen Tan with ease
• Place the globe in the hanging basket that you have make from one of the items above and hang inside or outside of your house.
The Druids used the blue light as a religious tool - a threshold device for thinning the barriers between worlds and is great with white robes. The red was used by Matriarchy for their religious ceremonies. (This is where the term 'red light district' was assigned as a place of prostitutes by the church against the use of the red spectrum by our female religious orders.)

If you’ve never worked with a black scrying mirror, this dark half of the year is a good time to start. Find a picture frame (81⁄2 x 11 inches is a good size) that you like. Take out the glass. Wash it with a tincture of mugwort and dry it thoroughly. Paint the back of the glass a flat black and let dry thoroughly. Slide the glass back into the frame, black side to the back, and consecrate it in your tradition. Light one candle on each side of the mirror and one candle halfway between you and the center of the mirror. Gaze into the glass. Ask a specific question and let images form in the glass. 5/8/12 - 9-year-old boy with an inoperable brain tumor. Starting radiation. Family and friends asking help for him and for the children that know him. Update 4/7 He’s doing pretty well and back in school despite the treatments. Update 5/8 No news is good news.

Pastor's New Teeth
A Pastor goes to the dentist for a set of false teeth. The first Sunday after he gets his new teeth, he talks for only eight minutes. The second Sunday, he talks for only ten minutes. The following Sunday, he talks for 2 hours and 48 minutes.
The congregation had to mob him to get him down from the pulpit and they asked him what happened.
The Pastor explains the first Sunday his gums hurt so bad he couldn't talk for more than 8 minutes. The second Sunday his gums hurt too much to talk for more than 10 minutes. But, the third Sunday, he put his wife's teeth in by mistake and he couldn't shut up...
