July 2012 Stats for Newfoundland

July 2012 has come to an end and it turned out to be warmer than average for many parts of Newfoundland.

Many people in the province remember, but try to forget, how awful the summer of 2011 was, with cool temperatures and an abundance of rainfall. 2012 has been a complete 180 from last year with one of the warmest and driest July's on record. A summary of July 2012 vs. 2011/average stats for official observation sites across the Island is provided below.

St. John's Int'l Airport

Royal St. John's Regatta

The 194th running of the Royal St. John's Regatta is set to take place on Wednesday (August 1). As locals know, the decision to hold the event, and holiday, is dependent on the weather. While the weather won't be picture perfect tomorrow, all attendees, including the rowers and general public, down at Quidi Vidi Lake should be pleased.A low which brought much needed showers, and some thundershowers, to the Avalon Monday night is slowly moving to the east over the G...
