pass through today. Am running
behind, as we had our monthly staff
meeting today.
wish I was outside.... It's lovely
weather.
I've been looking at my calendar here at
work. Oct is going to be very busy here
at work. We have some meetings on the books.
I see I have some training sessions scheduled,
as well. I don't know what those are. The
sessions were scheduled on my calendar by
either my supervisor or manager. I'll have
to find out what they are for.
I have a couple of doctor appts in Oct,
too. They were scheduled last spring.
I'll have to work around all of that, as well
as your cataract surgery dates, as far as
setting a time to come up for a few days.
We have two new hires in the office. One came
yesterday; the other one, today. There is still
one slot still open. I'm not sure when they'll
fill that one.
I imagine now that we are almost up to full staff
that overtime will no longer be approved. I did
take advantage while I could.
Hubby did get his rental car arranged yesterday.
I got home to find a Chevy Malibu in the drive.
Hubby was already in bed, so couldn't find out
any details.
Real busy today.
I didn't get much sleep last night,
as my nose was all stuffed up. Even
with using my prescription nasal
spray and a little bit of liquid
benedryl.
Hubby has had a mild code since last
weekend and I'm wondering if I've
picked it up from him.
So, I don't know if I'm feeling
tired and draggy today from not enough
sleep or if I'm diseased.
I'll see how I feel tomorrow.
Hope you're having a nice day.
Sorry I didn't stop by yesterday but it
appears that Hubby has shared his cold
with me.
It's not bad, so far. My nose is stuffy
and I just feel generally 'blah.'
I didn't even wake up yesterday morning
until almost 10:00 a.m.
I got the laundry done and did a quick
run to the grocer for something to
fix today for dinner.
I spent most of the day in my recliner
with the TV on and a library book.
I hit the bed early last night.
Hubby's cold seems to be pretty mild, other
than the stuffiness and a little bit of a
cough. I've made him take some Mucinex, some
cold meds and cough medicine.
We don't know how long it will be before they
have his car fixed. At least he now has the
rental car and I have my truck back.
It's good thing I got the laundry done
yesterday. It is overcast and I think
there's rain in the offing later today.
Hope you have a nice Sunday.
October: tenth month of the year,
Comes the winds, first frosts appear.
Takes the warmth from pure blue skies,
Opal mists, sun rays disguise,
Beguiles our hearts with morning's mild
Evenings come with weather wild,
Relinquishing our summer
Wishing you a very happy, healthy and safe month.
Dad.
I feel OK, I guess. No worse. Stuffy
nose and general, all 'round limpness.
I felt fairly perky when I got to work
but about mid morning, I drooped. One
other girl in my area came in with sore
throat and stuffiness. So, I guess the
season has started. Whoopee.
I meant to tell you that I spotted a
hummingbird moth Saturday just about dusk.
He was hovering around my petunias on the
front stoop. Unfortunately, Gus spotted
it, too, and went bananas. He was chasing
the moth and I was chasing him. I didn't
want him to catch the thing and kill it.
I'd have much rather had been able to sit
there and watch it but Gus took care of
that. I got Gus inside and went back out
but it was gone.
I might try watching out for it. Maybe it'll
show up again.
Still stuffy but not feeling too bad. Tired,
mostly.
I kept Gus from killing a lizard yesterday.
I saw movement near one of my plants and Gus
did, too. He dived headfirst into the thing,
all wild eyed and intent. He kept moving
from one side of the pot to the other.
I got up to look and there, in the middle of
the pot, was a teeny baby anole. It wasn't
even two inches long. Maybe an inch and a
half. I tried to get my hands on it before
Gus did but it leaped off to the side of the
house.
I'm fending Gus off with one hand, while trying
to nab the lizard with the other. I finally
got it, once it dropped to the grass. it was so
small, it couldn't move well in the mowed grass.
I took it over to the flower bed, which is
really overgrown, and turned it loose. Poor
little thing. It was so cute, too.
Another busy day on Beetle Rock.
We've got someone in our unit that
is leaving. Friday is her last day.
Back to being short handed again. And
the new girls aren't fully trained yet.
Dr. appt went OK. No real surprises.
There are a few areas that look a bit
'iffy' so he prescribed a cream to use
three times a week for two months. this is
related to the surgery I had last fall.
Same problem I've been dealing with off
and on for 20 years. Whoopee.
Gas seems to have stabilized at around
3.56 or 3.57 a gallon. I haven't seen
it go up or down in a couple of weeks,
now.
I got gas at Murphy's yesterday before
picking up my prescription in Walmart.
(The doctor's office called it in.)
With my card, I got gas for 3.48
Busy day at work again. We have someone
out with a sick child, so we're having to
ptich in with charge posting.
I only got two weeks of overtime. There
has been none this week. I'm wondering,
though, with that one girl leaving Friday,
if they'll let us do some more while they
try to fill that position. We'll see.
I am thinking of trying to get up Nov 1st, 2nd
and 3rd. I still haven't heard when your
cataract surgery is scheduled this month. I have training sessions the 24th through
the 26th and I can't get out of them. Too busy
this week and next to take time off.
Will email 'L' and ask if that's OK.
I think we got a little rain last night but
it must not have been much. Just enough to
settle the dust.
I might wander over to Charlestowne
Landing in the morning. The SC Native
Plant Society is having a plant sale.
I'm not sure if I'll get anything or not
but it will be fun to look.
I'm going to try again to call our cousin.
I'll tell ya, her social calendar stays full
and she's never home.
Just doing a quick peek in before getting
showered, dressed and out of the house.
The SC Native Plant Society is having a
fall plant sale over at Charlestowne
Landing this morning. I don't have plans
to buy anything but thought it would be
fun to just go look. They're holding it
in the parking lot, so you don't have to
pay. They moved the gate from the entrance
way back into the Landing. Everything from
the road to the parking lot is open to the
public. They have the Landing, proper,
fenced off and the entrance is now through
the Visitors Center.
I'll have to finish up the laundry after
I get back.
I'm never did feel too bad with this cold.
Hubby has felt lousy. I tried to get him
to go in but he wouldn't. He does say he
feels better and he hasn't been whining
and complaining the past 3 days, so I
think he's finally throwing it off.
No news on our cousin. I have not reached
her by phone in about 3 weeks and she has
not returned calls. I don't leave a message
on her machine every time I call; that would
get monotonous. The last time I did speak
with her, she said she was doing good, keeping
busy but she still really misses her house.
I guess staying busy helps; she doesn't have
too much time to dwell on it.
Best get moving! Hope you have a good
Saturday. When is your cataract surgery?
I got pulled out early for yard work this morning, right after I'd read the paper.
Hubby was gettng ready to mow and there's some weeds I wanted to pull before he did that. If I'd waited, I wouldn't be able to see them. Not sure what it is but its spread from my neighbor's yard and is coming up everywhere.
The neighbor does NOT do yard work. No raking, weeding, edging, nothing. He might mow once a month and just leaves all the grass clods where they fall.
I got an American Beauty Berry and a Joe Pye Weed at the SC Native Plant Society sale out at Charlestowne Landing yesterday a.m. They had lots of great plants but I really wasn't interesting in grasses or trees. I had to read all the posted info for each plant, to winnow out the things that needed shade or moist conditons. They even had bog plants!
They had some gorgeous oak leaf hydrangeas but I have no idea where I'd put one that Hubby wouldn't weed eat it to death. Can't plant along the back fence, as I'm still fighting a ton of grape, green briar, Virginia creeper, etc and I don't want to have to try to keep all of that from overgrowing anything I plant back there. I've sprayed and sprayed and sprayed and it all just keeps coming back.
I've warned him again to stay away from the trees and shrubs with that blasted weed eater. If it needs trimming, I'll do it by hand. It's not that much trimming.
I don't feel bad today, at all, after
all that yard work.
Had an appt with my Dr this a.m. to see
about changing the prescription on my
nose spray. The one I'm using is not working
well.
Got there to find that they would have to
reschedule my appt. "We tried to call you."
Will do it tomorrow.
We got almost half an inch of rain last night.
It was kinda cool out there when I went out
to get the paper. cold weather will be here
soon!
Got things with my nose spray squared away
this morning. I'll have to fight traffic
down Glenn McConnell to Walmart on Bee's Ferry
Rd this afternoon to pick up my new prescription.
I'm going to get groceries and gas while I'm
there. I might as well; there's things on my
shopping list I need.
A quick peek to say hello.
Really busy today. I've hardly had
time to go powder my nose this
morning.
Still right cool here. Hubby kicked
the heat on last night. I was fine
but he was complaining about being cold.
It's time for "Dueling Thermostats" again.
He wants to wander around the house barefoot
and with short sleeved tee shirts and cotton
work pants. I'm dressed for cool weather with
socks, long sleeved shirt, tee shirt, long pants, the
whole nine yards.
He'll put the temp on almost 80F and I keep turning
it down to 72F. 75 to 80 is WAY too hot; plus the higher the temp, the more your bill is.
We've been going round and round with this for
years.
Hubby got his car back yesterday. Says he's
pleased with the repair job.
I've picked up a cold bug or something. Again.
I felt fine yesterday morning. Shortly after
lunch, it was like someone hit me over the
head. I just drooped.
My throat is a bit sore and I've got a bit of
a dry cough. I started on mucinex last night,
I'm using my prescription nose spray and I'll
take ibuprofen or whatever. Can't take over
the counter cold meds; they ramp up my heart
rate, give me the shakes and I can't sleep on
them. Dr. G said it's the active ingredient
in them that is the problem.
I'll have to dig out my Vick's Vaporub and
start massaging the chest.
I feel a little better today but I'm still
droopy.
Hopefully, I'll have all of this cleared up
before I come up on the 1st. That's almost
3 weeks, so I should be fine by then.
Not doing too terribly bad today. Still
droopy feeling but there's not much
congestion, sore throat or cough going
on.
I want to keep it that way.
Emailed "L" and she confirmed that Nov 1st, 2nd and 3rd are fine with her for me to come up. So expect me around lunchtime that Thursday, Nov 1st. Will have to head home Sat after lunch, as I need to be home all day Sunday for the week's laundry, errands and whatnot before going back to work that Monday.
Feeling no worse today. Still a bit
stuffy and droopy.
This new nose spray prescription seems
to work much better than the other one.
And it helps with the nasal congestion
you get with colds. The sore throat
has eased off. I don't seem to have
any chest congestion. Still coughing
a little bit and lots of sneezing going
on.
We've got a few others at work that are
sniffling, too.
Got laundry going. No big plans for the
weekend. Just take care of whatever
household chores I can get done. I do
need to run to the grocer this afternoon.
I need some things for lunch at work next
week and something to cook tomorrow. I'm
leaning towards a pot of homemade veggie
soup. I'll need to check the larder and
see what I have on hand and make a list of
what I'll need to get at the store.
The beauty berry and Joe Pye weed I bought
at the native plant sale last week are
looking good. Been watering them daily, as
we have not had any rain since Monday. I
want those root systems to take hold good.
Gotta go. That load is done and I need to
hang them out.
You have a nice weekend and enjoy the
weather.
sorry I didn't check in yesterday. I felt
like rot all day long. I was even running
a bit of fever.
I came on in to work today, though I don't
feel really up to par. I don't feel quite
as limp as I did yesterday.
Hubby's aunt passed away yesterday morning.
This was his dad's sister. She was 93.
She'd outlived her husband and both of her
children, poor soul.
The Rosary is tonight at McAlister's in Mt
Pleasant and the funeral is tomorrow morning
at 9:00 over in Mt Pleasant.
Not much to report today. I feel OK, I guess.
Still tired feeling.
I'm wondering if these cold symptoms might be
from the meds that Dr. J prescribed for me two
weeks ago. The paperwork says lists 'flu like'
symptoms are a common side effect.
Will just have to wait and see.
I'm feeling pretty good today. Other than
just a litle tired. I nodded off in the
recliner again last night. When I woke
up, it was almost 10:30. By the time I
locked up and shut everything down, I was
waked up again, so had trouble getting
back to sleep, once I got in the bed.
I suspect the cold symptoms really are a
side effect to the meds Dr. J put me on.
I've only got 5 more weeks to use it, so
we'll see how it goes.
I must be turning into an Olde Farte.
I fell asleep in my recliner again last
night.
Really busy today.
Looking forward to seeing you week after
next.
We got more rain this morning. I think it's
moved off now.
I have a beef with our current paper carrier.
I'm not sure what his problem is but he can't
seem to get to our house before 6:30 or 7:00
half the time.
By that point, I can't even do a quick browse.
My morning routine is a quick read through the
paper with my cup of tea, before getting
showered, dressed and out the door. I have
to have my comics and Dear Abby fix to start
my day off right. Check the obits to make
sure I'm not listed (If I am, I'm going back to
bed!) and give the rest a cursory glance, at
least.
Today was the third time this week the paper
was late and I didn't even have time to take
it out of the little plastic bag.
If he thinks he's getting a tip at Christmas,
he better shape up.
but I came across something tonight
I think you'll like. It's a time lapse
video of sunset over at Murrells Inlet.
I hope it fits ok. All you have to do
to start it is click the arrow in the
middle of the screen.
I never did get online this weekend except
to send a belated email reply to Aunt 'C'.
Stayed busy with laundry and household chores.
I'm still planning on coming up Nov 1st. Will
be there that day around lunchtime. I'll have
to leave right after lunch on Sat, though. I've
still got enough daylight to get home.
that's a nice video Shore left for you.
Just a quick post to say hello.
I finally caved yesterday and made an
appt to get my eyes checked.
I've been having more and more problems
with the computer and reading. I suspect
that my prescription needs to be changed.
I'm hoping I can just get new lenses. I
think my frames are OK. That would save a
bit of money on the replacement costs.
I have to get two pair. One for regular
wearing and a second set for working on
the computer.
I'll be going in on Nov 13th, here at MUSC
over at Storm Eye. I can at least get a
discount on the office visit part of it.
I couldn't find my employee ID this morning. I looked everywhere.
You can get written up, if you come in more than 3 times in a 6 month period without your ID. I always keep it clipped on my truck visor.
somehow or other, yesterday I took it inside.
Ilooked everywhere this morning but I had to leave. When I got to work, I filled out a form you have to do, when you mess up with your ID.
It's not just the ID. They're encoded with our info and we use them to clock in and out (or swipe, as they now call it), get into and out of your parking lot or garage and to get into the office. We are locked in for safety reasons. You can open the door to leave but you have to swipe your card to get back in.
Guess where our bathrooms are? Outside the office, in the lobby area. They have combination locks on the doors. So, if you need to go powder your nose, you can't get back in without your ID. You have to press a button and someone inside will buzz you in.
I just borrowed a coworker's ID.
anyhoo, I called Hubby after I got to work and asked him to check the little vest I wore to work yesterday. And sho 'nuf, the thing was clipped to it. I didn't think to look there. I thought it was on my shirt and I'd thrown it in the dirty clothes.
Hubby had a dentist appt at 10:00 this morning, so he brought my ID to the office.
Looks like we'll have Sandy offshore this
weekend.
I'm not expecting any real bad weather
but I'll keep a weather eye yout, just
to be on the safe side.
That appt with Storm Eye can't come soon
enough to suit me. I know, I know, I
should have done this weeks ago but I'd
been putting it off, 'cause I know new
bifocals are expensive. I may even need
trifocals. Lord knows what those cost!
I'm fine for watching TV, walking around,
driving, working in the yard, etc. It's
the reading and computer work that's giving
me fits. And what did I do day before
yesterday? Yep, went to the library and
got books to read. At least, with those,
I can put them down when I need to.
Work is different. I can't down tools,
just 'cause my eyes are bothering me.
I'll get through it.....
It's Friday, it's Friday, it's Friday!!!
I'm doing my Snoopy dance.
Not sure how much laundry I'll get done
tomorrow. It depends on Sandy and how
nasty the weather gets.
We've got tropical storm watches up already.
It's clear and sunny out there right now. I
rather expect the rot to set in after sunset.
Rain and some blustery breezes but not much
worse than that.
Still... the stuff in the yard could use a good
soaking.
Sorry I didn't get on here to say 'hello'
yesterday or earlier today.
I've just been trying to get laundry done
and some household chores cleared out of
the way.
We did not get any bad weather from Sandy.
All we got was a rather damp, chilly and
breezy day. No real wind to speak of;
just gusty. Not much rain, either.
I feel for those folks north of us. What
with Sandy and two other systems getting
ready to collide for a super storm, it's
going to be rough for them. I'm glad to
see that they're on their toes up there
and getting folks evacuated and ready.
Ready or not, there's going to be a mess.
I'll try to check in from work tomorrow
but I've been having some problems with
Wunderground loading real slow
from my work computer. Not sure what
the problem is. Our IT guy said it might
be my computer; there doesn't seem to be
a problem with the network. I'm getting
tired of it, though. It sure messes up
my lunchbreak not being able to visit the
blogs without it taking my entire lunch
break.
I'm looking forward to seeing you later
this week.
I'll arrive about the usual time Thursday.
Anytime from 11:30 to 12:00 or shortly
after.
Oddly enough, Wunderground seems to be acting
normal today. Not like it's been doing with
me lately at work. I've seen turtles
stampeding through peanut butter that were
moving faster than WU has been doing.
Shhhhhhh...... You didn't hear me say that!
I'll jinx things!
I've got a coworker who's parents and family
are all up in NJ and he's a bit worried about
them, what with Sandy looming and those other
two systems poised to join the party.
I just spent some time browsing around for some
webcams in that area, so he can monitor
conditions. He says his folks are on high ground
but they have 100 foot trees all on the property.
They had a little flooding in the basement last
year with Irene but it wasn't bad. Thing is,
if they lose power, they can't use their sump
pump.
It's a bit cool here today but sunny and nice.
shut. Things are getting slow on here again.
I wanted to get the latest from the Weather Channel but, as usual, the break room TV is tuned into a soap opera and woe to the person who has the effrontery to even think about changing the station.
I heard that Uncle "D" and his girlfriend galivanted off to NOLA this week. Or was it last week? HOpe they
have/had a good time.
They went in the right direction. I pity the poor sods that decided to vacation or visit D.C. or NY, Atlantic City, etc. this week. I think they've gotten
a little more excitement than they planned for.
there!
I see Sandi left Halloween greetings.
I didn't buy any candy. I haven't seen
a trick or treater at the front door in
years. I think they're told not to cross
Wappoo. We never had more than a handful
of them, anyway. Our biggest year we had
14, I think. Most years, it was just 2 or
3. Maybe 5 or 6, once in a while.
Ghostly Greetings!
WHITE RABBITS, WHITE RABBITS, WHITE RABBITS!
Wishing you a very happy, healthy, safe and secure month of
November.
Just checking the weather forecast real quick.
I'll see you around lunchtime!
Then the leaves are whirling fast."
