...Heavy rain possible as remains of Pacific cyclone Odile approach...

Abundant moisture will spread into the Texas South Plains region tonight and Thursday in advance of Pacific tropical cyclone Odile. This will lead to an increasing chance of locally heavy rain and minor flooding. Rainfall may quickly amount to an inch or two in some locations through Thursday...though most areas will receive a half inch or less. Minor street flooding should be expected in some areas.

The remains of Odile are expected to pass just north of the area late Friday and early Saturday which may lead to another round of heavy rain. By the time this system passes...some locations could see rainfall totals up to several inches. Precise locations with greatest threat for heavier rain are still not clear.

Persons planning travel or outdoor activities through Saturday can stay updated with current forecasts on NOAA Weather Radio and at weather.Gov/lub.
