The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Tornado Watch for portions of
southeastern New Mexico
portions of the wrn half of Texas
* effective this Thursday afternoon and evening from 1245 PM
until 800 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
a few tornadoes possible
scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 3
inches in diameter possible
isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible
Summary... thunderstorms are forecast to increase in both coverage
and intensity over the next few hours across the watch area... with
initial/more isolated convection potentially growing upscale into
one or more clusters/lines with time. Very large hail is expected
along with the potential for a few tornadoes. Locally damaging
winds are also expected... with more widespread wind risk potentially
evolving if storms indeed congeal into a more linear/bowing
The Tornado Watch area is approximately along and 115 statute
miles east and west of a line from 45 miles east northeast of
Lubbock Texas to 50 miles west southwest of Dryden Texas. For a

Remember... a Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for
tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
